NY Inspection / tint

Hey all - saw an few years old thread on this question so figured I’d start a new one.

In the process of registering my car in NYC after moving here a couple months ago. Need to get the vehicle inspected, but it has window tints. Is this a deal breaker for inspection?

Any way around it / recommendations?

Idk about NYC but Texas fails inspection with front windshields and they check under your car and everything.

I just slipped my local guy an extra $50 bucks and he "passed" it for me

Id reach out to your local FB groups and ask.

You're not getting it passed in NY with tint. However if you have a doctors note from a dermatologist that states you need to protect your skin from UV that may work.

Hm.. rough! Don’t have any doctor friends, so getting a note is going to be tough.

I also heard hard to find an shop that with wink wink pass given how strict it is.

Might need to look into removing these things. Seller has them installed when I bought the car, and I never paid attention to it.

Related to this, how are people passing inspection here with catless downpipes? Did you grease the inspection shop or swap to OE beforehand?

Get a couple of O2 sensor extension nuts (2 for each side), install on the pipes, reset the tune to show all codes/not bypass the O2 sensors. Run through a drive cycle, and take it into a shop - everything should look good on a readout.
