Are these new/different parts or numbers to the original, factory piece that broke?
Any evidence of redesign?

So is it my understanding that the billet knuckle is having more issues than the regular F8X cast knuckle?

That's really crazy considering that billet is supposed to be stronger.

They're not interchangeable. Different geometry between the GTS and std M4.

Does anyone know if the diameter of the front strut mount is the same as the cast M4 knuckle?

Carrier ("knuckle") inspection may now be part of standard M4 GTS inspection

I took my car in for oil service this week. Got a call back that they had detected a "hairline" crack in the passenger side carrier and decided to replace it. Driver side looks okay (for now).

Lead time is 2 weeks from Germany.

I did not ask for them to look at the carrier; they did it on their own.

I suspect that BMW has added this inspection for the GTS given the number of replacements they've had to do.

I just had my control arm replaced due to a clunk. I would assume they would have checked for cracks if my carrier was bad?
