Took the wheels off (513m) to replace pads and almost didn't notice the belts showing on my front passenger tire. I'm not sure how long ago they split but must have been after the most recent track day where tires were getting up to 120deg F. These are Michelin PSS tires, stock spec i think. Any idea how this happens? I had an alignment done about 6 months ago. Car is lowered on M&S springs.

Switched to my 437m wheels while i look for new rubber for the 513m's. Thanks for any insight or ideas.

I would get your alignment checked. That is highly unusual wear. At the same time, the splitting seems characteristic of old rubber getting too hot (PSS don't like heat). Date codes?

Date code is 2418 for both fronts.

The driver side is also similarly worn but not as deep. I guess it was just the camber and driving on track like that?

Yeah. Excessive negative camber and/or toe out. Did you get aligned after your lowering springs were installed?

Fwiw, I dont think 4 year old tires should not see track duty anyway.

Do you drive these in the winter? How do you store them? If you store them in the winter, they should be elevated ona box or some padding and not touch the cold ground.

Yes got the alignment after lowering was done.

Hopefully the new tires dont suffer the same fate.

Btw, do you think 255/35r18 and 275/35r18 would be okay for these stock 513m wheels? They are lower in profile but was hoping for track duty (not for daily) it wouldn't be a huge issue.

This past winter they were fitted on my car. I live in Atlanta (USA) area so it doesn't get too cold here anyway.

Pretty common wear for any lowered F8x. Alignment only fixes toe angle. Camber adjustment not possible unless you have camber plates. Pretty sure you got like 20-25k miles on those tires.
