1,200 mile smile

Just had the first service done so I'm able to open it up properly. It sounds so good and the rate of acceleration is incredible. Smiling from ear to ear and looking for any reason to take it out now.

Enjoy your M's

Wow congrats; I'm at about 400 miles currently, so two thirds to go. Feel any immediate differences?

No, but I only went for one quick 30 minute drive. I did think the exhaust note sounded slightly different (louder/more aggressive) but don't know why it should. The fact that I could take it beyond the 5,500 rpms made the biggest difference. I know people have different opinions for the break in period but I just did as my dealership said and kept it under this point. After all, they'll be the ones doing any warranty work if it's ever needed. The engine/exhaust note after the 5,500 rpm point though. It just starts screaming at you. And being able to let it run to 7,500 rpm before changing gear makes the acceleration so much quicker. I know that's obvious but it's so good to be able to open it up without worrying and finally feel the full power of the engine. It's like getting a new car all over again. Am very happy.

Glad to hear, but Yeah I been itching to open it up; I work so close that it will probably be another month or so before I hit the 1,200 mark.

So jealous...put about 800 miles on my car during my recent ED trip and even then, shifting no higher than 4500 (I was over cautious if anything), the car still pulled and was a blast.

I thought your title original meant to say, 1,200 mile service, but the smile makes a lot more sense!

Congrats!

I work from home so no miles commuting. I just kept going on unnecessary drives to clock up the miles. Can't help myself.

Yeah, I was surprised at how much speed and power there was even when taking to 5,500 rpm. It was faster than most things on the road even then. Love it! Hope the time until you get your car back flies by

I agree after the 1200 mile service I took the car past 5500 rpm and the thing scared me, I kept it under 5500 for the break-in, occasional high throttle pulls to 5500 but going past that completely feels different and awesome!

Congrats!

My M still has ~6,500 miles to go before my break-in service.

Yep.

The first 5,300 miles are on a train/boat/truck.

Won't that void your warranty? There must be a limit to the amount of miles you can run it for with the less viscous lubricants before damage occurs?
