People driving like assholes around me

Is it just me or does this car make people want to cut you off and stuff?

I had a WRX, a 235i, and now the M3.

Holy shit I get so aggravated when I'm just cruising in traffic and people constantly need to cut into my lane when there's not enough space.

Even when there is space and I'm in the right lane they cut in so fucking close to my car it aggravates the shit out of me.

I drive my parents cars and stuff all the time and this kind of thing never happens in any other car.

I have this happen too. As far as people not knowing how to drive, I'll speak for myself and say I am an average driver at best. The problem of course is that many people are below average. I think many people think they are better drivers than they really are.

My pet peeve is when I'm merging that the traffic doesn't move to the center lane on a three lane highway.

I find it somewhat flattering lol. Watching them waste gas and make a fool of themselves. For some reason it's mainly 350/370Zs and Evolutions..and to be honest they're pretty goddamn fast when modified.

It's funny, but I live in Austin, Texas which is the home of the 4x4 pickup truck and behemoth SUV. Nobody here even notices my car, even though it is SO. Guess it just depends where you are from.

so my commute just became like and hour plus. I used to be weaver, but realized its better to just zombie and drive at a moderate pace to work. it makes the commute go by so much faster. Driving stick also makes me leave enormous gaps in front of me to prevent shifting. now im sure everyone knows what this article is saying but it is well written and worth a read.

i-287 is notorious for phantom slowdowns. wanna see an accident? sure i get it. but to slow down traffic for miles because someone is changing there tire is ludacris.

now believe me you can drive as agressive as you want and tail my ass, but there is space you will be left in the dust and I will always catch up no matter how much weaving or cutoffing one has done. It can literally save maybe a minute of commute time, but add an hours worth of stress to the brain. Every single day people tailgate the shit out of me in there broke ass cars and pass me only to slam on the brakes. I know this is never going to change but I just cant believe why everyone thinks a car length is going to save time, let alone they are making the traffic worse. if everyone left a gap and stayed in the lane there would be no traffic.

Same thing on the backroad of my commute people riding my ass from a stop. Like is everyone flooring it at 7AM, THE FUCK. the 1st to second(espec in cold weather) is difficult shift and people are CM away from rear-ending me. I would have to launch my M fukin 3 to appease these people. and for what I ask, once i get into third i will be doing 5 over speed limit so why the fuck you tailing me for. This boils my blood and if someone rear ends me I will freak because MW paint and its because they were driving too aggressively. I never tail anyone, if they are driving to slow. I will literally slow down so much and create such a gap that I can comfortably drive again.

I am slowly starting to get over this and just zoning out and letting it be. But I cant stand the look on peoples face in the morning when they are riding my ass or pass me. Like you really want me to drive my car cause the outcome will be 180. But alas I don't have enough brain functioning to care anymore at 7am just zone out. also I am slowly shifting to a 7-3 schedule. On other roads I will continue driving at whatever pace I am at regardless of the tailing. sometimes if I am over the speed limit I will slow down to limit. People have lose their mind trying to bully an M3 on the road. But honestly I dont care if your driving an F1 car, if someone is going the speed limit, respect the road. and in traffic just stay in lane and leave a gap.

In conclusion most people with a car that is capable actually drive with respect in traffic because I think they understand what true speed really is and its is trivial to weave and cut people off because they aren't getting anywhere faster. I am sure cutting someone off in a minivan feels like a moving a mountain.

TL;DR. Dont drive like a dick. The roads are congested, you aren't getting anywhere faster unless open highway. So just sit back relax, and zombie to work.

Left lane hoggers make my blood boil. Along with people who try to follow behind me closely while I'm traveling at a high rate of speed. The Dc metro area has one of the lowest speed limits for highways but the flow of traffic is always going a lot faster.

aerostar , it is incredible how the driving dynamics of others change around you in the M. People do drive differently around my F80. My wife thought I was imagining it, which is partially true (more on that in a minute), but between the folks who want to race, gawk, admire and to those who will make you suddenly adjust, cause you look like you can afford an accident, there is a clear difference of amped up drivers around me when compared to when I drive in the Hybrid Camry. My wife conceded after a few drives in the M3.

I picked up my F80 LCI on December 5, 2015 and decided to install a 2CH Blackvue Dash Cam by the time Christmas rolled around. Christmas morning I spent a couple of hours installing it. Best money spent on the car for a non OEM component.

While there are many times that it captures people being idiots around me, I have found a fair amount of examples of when I thought someone was coming a tad too close or driving poorly and when reviewed in the camera(s), it does not look so bad. I have had to alter my perception and adjust my thresh holds of when I decide someone is driving in a less than stellar manner.

G35POPPEDMYCHERRY makes a great point, increase your space and time to be able to react to the new exterior dynamics of those around you in your new car. Enjoy the drive.

Get yourself a DashCam, you will be glad you did, and hopefully you will never need it.

Some of it has to do with color. I don't have too many problems with mineral gray. But I imagine Austin Yellow or Yas would create quite a reaction.

I haven't noticed anyone driving differently around me when I am in my M4 vs. any previous car or my wife's car. Bad drivers around no matter what car I drive.
