I pulled the trigger on the Open Flash Tablet and I'm glad I did!

These were my reasons:
- You purchase a piece of hardware (as opposed to software)
- Promising info on flashing back to stock and reseting counters
- The ability to get a completely CUSTOM tune specific to your car AND your style of driving
- Great power gains (dyno to come soon) and cold start and roar delete
- Amazing..and I mean AMAZING customer service. I've spoken on the phone and texted with Anthony all the time.... (should he be the Godfather of my next child? hehe)
- oh and here is the biggest one...when we were going back and forth with my custom tune, Anthony went out and BOUGHT A MANUAL M3! Yes...he said that he wanted to see what the minor issues I was having were...so he bought a manual M3 just for that! How insane is that.

Anyways..if you are on the fence - don't be. $499 is not that much money and you get so much!

I made a quick video summarizing my installation experience. More to come soon when it comes to daily usability and customization..but seriously - what an amazing product!

FYI - this is NOT a paid promotion. I paid the full $499 for it.

More of a trade-in... We had two, too many DCT's.*

Like we've said before, we have great rapport with local dealerships. We have a LOT of cars.*

keen to see if/when Openflash can fix the driveability issue moving off from rest

also there needs to be the option of a tuner not overwriting the tables that provide the burble, so that zcp owners can retain what they have

We can retain OEM ZCP burble, and carry it to other software versions too.

The whole point of trading in our DCT for a 6MT (and testing with other privately owned vehicles) is to re-work the "takes off from a stop" logic in the ECU.

In sport and sport+ (even from the factory tune) its awful. Newer software versions have the logic/related tables reworked which makes it a bit better; but were hoping to really improve it with our OTS files when they are fully released as release candidates.

For now, everyone gets a custom tune.

Anthony so DCT owners should not have any take-off issues correct? Have you had any BM3 owners switch over to OFT yet? I want to switch but want to make sure it will be a smooth process.

after switching from oe 2016 s/w to 2018 s/w following ccb retro, i can tell you throttle sensitivity in sport + has been greatly improved to point where it's no longer an issue

* Stage 0 (Stock) = 424 Hp. (Rear wheels)
* Stage 1 = 474 Hp. (+50Hp)
* Stage 2 = ?

Is this correct?

What am I missing?

Sorry I didn't catch your message before. Both Shiv and I monitor the acct, and it could have been marked as read by either of us by accident before.

We posted some graphs related to our Stage 1 mapping here: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...3#post23583593

  • OEM MAPPING (totally stock)- 424HP 397TQ [wheel HP]
  • OpenFlash Stage 1 FULL Torque- 476HP 484TQ (+52HP +87TQ) [wheel HP]
  • OpenFlash Stage 1 FLAT Torque- 47HP 411TQ (+52HP +14TQ) [wheel HP] <- We can produce a bit more TQ if we choose, but yo loos the linearity of the flat TQ component.

We haven't released any stage 2 mapping data yet.

Hey,

How are the levels (i.e.: Stage 1, etc.) defined?

How is it that "others'" can offer an 84+ Hp. increase at a "Stage 1" level - without altering the factory safety
parameters (boost?) yet, you're showing a 52 Hp. increase designated to this level??

Depending on the answer to my first question, you could arguably label any further increase in Hp, "Stage 2".

Cheers!

I have a JB4 installed, do I need to uninstall the JB4, or can I leave it in bypass mode?
Also, I have catless DPs, so how will the code clearing work?

if you click the link they included it explains how they did the Dyno runs. you'll notice they have a higher baseline then most other tuners claim. final whp numbers seem pretty comparable to other tunes

+1. We have the same 380-390whp baseline stock pulls. But claiming they represent stock power output is fraudulent knowing that the stock tune picks up an additional ~40whp over the next several adaptation pulls. So we use the higher power pulls as the true stock baseline. Anthony and I have been in the tuning business long enough to know not to play the low baseline/optimistic gain game. Doesn’t do anyone any good at the end of the day.

Hey,

Thanks!

[Ok., So your "Stage 1" (+-) =+60WHp using "others'" baseline]

When will you be releasing your "Stage 2" data and what will, if any, be the requirements for the car at this stage/level?

Cheers!

Finally got off the fence and decided to go with an ECU tune. Went with this crew mostly because these guys have been around for ~25 years doing this for cars ranging from a BRZ to a Ferrari. Looking forward to getting the tune setup.

Its nice to see a familiar tuning solution available for the F80. I've recently upgraded from a BRZ that was tuned with OFT and later Ecutek. Do you have a full list of features you intend to implement for the F8x cars?

I saw the squishy answer on flex fuel earlier in the thread and will say I'd much rather have a flex fuel solution (even combo with pump, injectors, eca kit) rather than pure E85 maps. Needing to reflash if you are going on a trip where E85 isn't available is a pain.

Best of luck growing business on this platform. I'll pick up an OFT2 soon to check out the flat torque tune on a MT ZCP M3.

Found a little hard case that fits the OFT like a glove for keeping it in the car.

Quick follow-up

I received the updated file from Anthony, both High Torque and High Horsepower versions. The car feels great and it pulls so hard now. It actually pulls so hard that I'm debating getting a wider tire setup, since at this moment it even breaks loose in 2nd gear.

The team has been extremely easy to work with and always keep me updated on what's going on. I feel that the $500 spent on this tune is well worth it.

How's the first gear smoothness? Were they able to tweak that for you in the latest version?
