Nevertheless the official max speed is 120km/h but I live near the border with Germany (autobahn).
When I had a nail in my left front PSS I just replaced it. Still interesting how the differing manufacturers deal with patching.

I noticed tirerack has the 275/35R19 in stock for PSS in two different load ratings. Other than that looks like everything else is the same. (96 load rating vs 100)

But there's one huge issue.... You're more likely to use your tire sealer kit than find a Michelin Super Sport tire

So, since these tires are more extinct than the dinosaurs themselves, what tires have you guys been using as your replacements until Michelin get's their SH*^T together? Looking for advice on a tire that's comparable on the street moreover than the track.

I've considered the

Continental ExtremeContact DW
Bridgestone RE71
Michelin Pilot Sport 2
Bridgestone S-04

Which would compare the best to the PSS in terms of daily street driving that's mildly aggressive.
I just upgraded to 19" wheels and moved to Bridgestone S-04's staggered all around. Will let you know how it goes. I also am in the same boat/opinion in that am looking for a tire with more street vs track performance as that is where I end up doing the majority of my driving since its also my daily driver too. Will update you guys as I see/drive it.

I don't believe the PSS are necessarily the grippiest extreme performance tire, there are quite a few tires that offer more dry grip. However, I find it to be an excellent all around compromise. It offers very decent dry performance, is excellent in the wet, is quiet and comfortable, offers sharp response and has very decent wear. I think it is for this total package that most folks want the PSS.

Just FYI,

PSS are an "High performance summer" category tire, not "Extreme summer" tire.

Extreme summer goes to the Advan NeoR, RE-11, RE-71, etc.

Agreed.

I did not phrase my post properly. I wanted to highlight that there are tires that offer more dry grip in the "Extreme Performance" category.

Thanks for pointing it out

Yeah, Potenza S-04 is pretty darn good of a tire...highly recommend. I actually just replaced my front 2 tires (PSS 255/35-19) even though they are brand new and only 2 weeks old. Anyways, got Continentals ExtremeContact DW and my goodness has the quality of the ride changed. It actually drives and feels better than the PSS. The PSS is super-noisy, and too rough of a ride. I feel every crack and pebble on the road with those tires....don't know how anyone can like that for the street. Anyways, the M4 has transformed with softer tires. I can now put the suspension in the sport + setting and drive it around all day long without feeling that thumpy ride you get from PSS. The car feels so good on the highway. The steering feels nice and planted, and softer than before. I actually enjoy driving the car now.....and Oh....that alignment issue that people have with their car pulling to the right will go right out the door.

I didn't want to sell the rears, but I might as well have the same tire all around. I can sell the rears for $495 flat for both. I think they go for $350 a pop on Tirerack.com...don't quote me on that, but the rear tires are in the same condition...pretty much flawless. I can send you pics if you like...they literally look like the car just came out of the dealer.

I'll pretty much sell all 4 for $700. Which is a steal, I think...right? Just the rears are $700. I'm including the front as well.....again, in flawless condition. You know what...I'll even do it for $675 for all 4. =) and that's the lowest.

For those who don't know, Michelin actually stopped production completely for 5 months. As to why that happened I do not know, BUT, they have restarted production and now tires can be bought!

Where can they be bought?
My rears are shot at just about 10k--crazy right! I guess I'll be on an intermittent schedule, needing a pair of rears before every set of 4

This. I've had four sets now on two cars. I see no reason to switch and I've been a big Bridgestone fan from the S-02 on (still my favorite tire ever based on when it came out, the very high and balanced level of performance it delivered even in the wet, as the great looks of the tread pattern). For all-around performance the PSS is hard to beat. The one thing I've found about the PSS that sets it apart is that as it heat cycles it seems to retain high levels of dry grip, unlike what I've experienced with any other similar tire. On both cars (each LSD equipped) when I've felt (seemingly it happens all of sudden) that they're giving up grip I've measured the tread depth and it's happened around 4/32's, so just above the wear bars. That's outstanding consistency of performance.

Are you willing to ship? I think all you have to do is take them to UPS, probably bind W tape 2 and 2.
