donuts

Just wondering, can donuts hurt the car? I’ve just bought an m4 and I’ve been doing a few donut sessions 2min max every few days or so in empty parking lots, can this hurt my car ? I know it hurts the tires but can it hurt any mechanical equipment like axles or something

There’s a YouTube video of someone doing donuts in his e92 M3 until it went up in flames. The oil does slosh in the pan to one side which can possibly result in oil starvation, etc.

So it’s best to just avoid doing donuts all together?

You should be able to get away with donuts basically if it’s more left-right donuts/transitions; i.e., drifting vs a single constant one-direction of rotation/donut.

I keep the Hooning to 18 inch tires because they’re cheaper and I have more options beyond Michelins. I can’t spend $900 on Michelin tires everytime I burn through a pair

What tire brands do you recommend? For your daily driving not burnouts

I like fire hawk Indy 500 for just messing around. It’s like the poor man’s Michelin PSS

I typically use 200TW Rival S tires on 18” Apex
EC7 - this is my daily tire

On 666M I always use Michelin PSS

Donuts wont harm the car. It will just wear things out more like tires, bushings, differential, etc.
No, you wont starve the engine of oil, doing donuts do not generate high constant Gs.

Be smart tho, if you burn through the tire and pop it, it will cause damage. Redlining the car for 30 mins straight is not good for wear and may cause overheating but i dont think it will break anything either. Do some donuts for 5 to 10 minutes and take a 5 min break between...

Do you. Just please don’t be like these dumbasses that do these ‘takeovers.’

Asshats doing donuts in the middle of intersections with huge crowds… crowds that get plowed over.
