Do not buy from: Bmw of Beaumont Texas

I would like to make this as short as possible. Id like to start and say that Im located in Florida and was in the market for a BMW m4.

I stumbled across a very rare spec on Cars.com in my opinion.
Competition package.
Metallic black sapphire.
Extended Sakhir orange leather interior.
Carbon Ceramics.
Executive Package.

I quickly got in contact with Chris James who was a great sales man at BMW of Beaumont located in TEXAS. He was quick to reply very friendly and made the experience pretty easy. We did the normal car buying process. We negotiated and so on and so fourth. He tells me the cars in high demand its certified and all the good stuff. So a week or two later the cars in my driveway.

I did not have time to fully examine the car. Couple days later I did and found the front bumper is destroyed from "pitting" all over the front bumper is what my body shop and detailer said as well as the headlights. The body shop gave me a estimate of $1,700 to repair the front bumper and paint it. As for the headlights my detail guy said he can wet sand it and polish it and apply film for 500$, let me include he said they will not be perfect but better. The body shop told me that wet sanding the headlights is not a good idea. As this bodyshop is "bmw certified" they told me that wet sanding and polishing could potentially ruin the headlights and cause haze. Forgot to mention a slight tear on my driver side seat.. But not a big deal considering I have to get the front bumper repainted.

Ive been messaging Mr Chris James and he has been really slow with his replies, unlike before when he was trying to sell the car.. I tried getting in contact with the GM i left two voicemails as well as the sales manager and no reply yet.. Its been 4-5 days and no solution. Mr James has been ignoring my calls and my messages as well as the mangers and when Mr James did reply he said " Im sorry man i didn't notice all of that" and told me to get a quote from a body shop for repairs. 1700 for the front bumper and brand new headlights v2 LED which are well over 4500. He proceeds to say they cant cover that as it exceeds what they can cover.

I could go on for days however i tried making this as short as possible. I understand i bit the bullet and purchased a car sight unseen. This is my fourth BMW and third M car and I usually go through my local dealer. But as you guys know a perfect spec is scarce. Gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Im trying to help a future buyer out so they do not make the same mistake I did. Just beware of who you are dealing with. This dealership is very dishonest and unwilling to help and they just want your money.

I understand it was my fault and Im fully responsible for giving the dealership the benefit of doubt. But these damages are very obvious if you're inspecting the car before you sell it or even clean it. Any advice is more than welcome.

Unfortunate reality of buying a car long distance. I would've seen if a member could swing by and take a look at it for you before purchasing. I imagine lots of cars in TX, FL etc will have a ton of highway miles and show similar signs of not clear bra'd.

The dealership is located in Beaumont Texas. But I'm in Tallahassee Florida. It just boggles my mind how a dealership can sell cars of this caliber and "not notice pitting" the headlights look very bad when on. Terrible..

That sucks but its a used car though. The dealership I go to always paints the front bumper before sale of rock chips, etc. But the headlights they leave as is. They have to be protected from day 1 or nothing else can be done later.

Damn I'm sorry to hear about your troubles OP that blows... If it's any consolation you should be able to just buy new headlight lenses for a couple/few hundred bucks and have someone install them. I would also shop around for other quotes on repainting the front bumper because usually "bmw certified shops" just charge incredibly higher prices because of their certification while in many cases being of worse quality than many other body shops in town. Repainting the front bumper shouldn't cost more than a grand

I agree. However this car barely had 6k miles. So I didn't think it would be that bad. They could have at least been honest and gave me a heads up.

A car with only 6k miles, CCBs and that bad of front end pitting... I'd start to worry about this car being someone's track toy or one of those BMW NA cars that they let customers go out and beat on at the track for a few thousand miles and dump off at a dealership to sell without telling them it's history

Is it as simple as replacing the lenses cover?

At this point who knows. I have no experience with pitting ive had a 2016 m3 with 32,000 miles driven hard and tracked twice and looked nothing like how tis one looks.

You can replace lens covers but it is an arduous process due to the permaseal and this is an aftermarket or third party job. No representative BMW body shop will do this AFAIK and will tell you to buy a new headlight. The greater issue is that the lenses should not require replacing at 6k miles...

There's glue that seals the lens to the headlight so what you do is heat the lenses up to loosen up the glue then put the new lens on and put new glue on it to seal it. I would take it to a pace that customizes headlights because they'll be the ones with experience doing that. For example BayOptiks has an option on their website that when you customize headlights with them they can install new lenses. So it's definitely possible don't let anyone tell you that you need new headlights

Here's a link to a DIY on opening them. Some of us with pre-LCI headlights do this to black out the silver internals. Again, this should be a last resort in your case as your headlight will be "tampered" with and BMW can void any unrelated functional warranty claims on it if they find out.
