alpine vs mineral rock chips

so I've owned both a aw m4 (2015) and a mineral m4(2018) and I've found that my current 2015 aw car just gets way more rock chips. The paint just feels way weaker that the 18 mineral car. also it seems like the chips themselves go though the paint more.

both cars are non accidents and have 10k miles. no paint work.

anyone else notice anything like this?

No exp with AW but my mineral white front end is chipped up the wazoo, no ppf, low miles. Seems like every drive I come back with a new chip. No tailgating etc. Being these cars are faster than your avg car, the speed at which we travel over time might have an effect with the amount of chips we have haha.

I got a AW M4 with 1500 miles on it and front bumper has more than a handleful of painful rock chips that make me cry everytime I wash the car. My E46 M3 was also AW and I got the front bumper sprayed after 8 years. It cost me $700 total. Just price in a spray in the future and enjoy the car. NO other chips to report anywhere and I'm lowered with spacers. I don't tailgate and make sure I drive behind someone with mud flaps if possible. No way to get away from it. PPF helps but the big ones will go thru and dimple the paint at best.

It's still a great car with some small stone chips. Enjoy it for what it is. Once it gets really bad, do a respray and enjoy it all over again. Don't let these small things get you down or stop you from enjoying the car to its fullest! Life is too short, cars come and go!

AW won't have a paint match issue like mineral white, get a good body shop that can math paint. I believe the mineral white is a multistage process and paint does seem thicker, but more difficult with touch up paint. Ppf is the solution from the beginning. Especially if your going to keep the car. Lease? Then respray.
