How should we be approaching maintenance to stay ahead of issues as these cars get older?
Mine is daily and fun - saw 10+ events each of the last two years, will see 15+ this year.

Every year I do:

Oil 2-3x (5k, 5 events, or 6 months whatever is first)
Diff 1x
Brake fluid 2x
Filters 1x

Everything else I do as needed or preventatively. For instance, this season I am doing hubs and rebuilt calipers + new rotors all around.

This is great. Thanks fellas. RugbyBro my use case is similar 10ish days a year.

Car sees:
- oil change after every track weekend
- diff / transmission every year
- brake fluid 2x per year
- brakes as needed

Preventive stuff:
- crank hub done
- planning to preemptively replace the intercooler
- planning to add oil cooler protector

Was just wondering if I am missing anything obvious because I am hoping to keep this car a long long while. I have another car coming (hopefully) this spring so that will pick up the track duties. After which this will become the fun road car with very limited track usage.

What Ropes said. Stick to the regular scheduled maintenance.

Honestly, if it's no longer doing track duty then the regular maintenance schedule is probably spot on. Don't know when mine will see less track time but if it ever does my maintenance will be like this:

1. Oil 2x a year (6 months / 5k miles) - may even consider 5w-30 if it's truly daily only as it gets to temp much quicker than 5w-40.
2. Diff 1x a year
3. Brake Fluid 1x a year
4. Filters 1x a year
5. Everything else as needed or regular maintenance schedule.

I have all this stuff thru FCP so it really doesn't cost me much to do it outside of time, which I feel is well spent keeping you in tune with the car.

You may also want to look into or periodically check:

1. TMIC - keep check on coolant levels and replace if it goes bad
2. Front turbo intake O-Ring - people don't realize since it's hidden by the stiffening plate, but this ring goes bad and leaks blow-by oil that is routed back into the front intake.

These cars are pretty stout - S55 may not be as special feeling as S65 or S54 but it can take major abuse and not complain unlike its predecessors. Bodes well for longevity overall. Apex ran their F80 for 36k miles exclusively on the 'ring at 550hp before their engine blew; that pretty nuts if you think about it.

Agree. These engines do seem stout after the crank hub fix. Thanks for the inputs!

Definitely do your differential fluid regularly... While I do my engine oil changes very regularly - here in Europe, the engine oil interval is every 2 yrs/30,000 km (18.6k miles) - and I basically do it between every 7k miles - I've neglected my differential changes and it's had an impact on it being basically shot now.

I also would perform regular DCT fluid changes as well. Lifetime fluid is BS, I think Getrag (or definitely ZF) recommends to do it every 50-60k miles, but that's not accounting for track use. I've had a flush done on my 40d ZF 8HP at 40k miles and it's definitely improved things so deffo can't hurt to treat your DCT to the same standard.

Interesting. It’s like the wax gives the FDB too much of a gloss shine.

Beautiful! Consider getting color matched front reflectors, does a world of good.

It does at the start, but the shine goes away after a few washes. I was pretty concerned about mine as well first time I did it, but luckily the shine went away as mentioned prior.

First pic right after nano wax, next pic after shine has gone away.

Nice! The appeal of the frozen paints is the matte look. Good to know the nano wax shine is just temporary.

Yep, #1 question I always get "is that a wrap".

One less M4 CS in the world, noticed this while on FB marketplace. Sad day.

Honestly not looking to do anything crazy. Already running MPE and AA non res midpipe and they sound pretty good .. wheel gap fixed with MPHAS

First maybe the AA catted downpipe .. the price is a little steep tho. I have to stay catted for PA inspection.

It's outstanding! I would vote for keeping it completely stock.
