Help with car play in new car

Hi guys i have had this beautiful 2018 f82 comp for a few days and can not get apple carplay to show up anywhere in the settings if someone can please help me let me know i have went into manage devices to see if the apple carplay pops up buts its now where to be found not in any settings i have looked at

Yes i have still nothing the apple CarPlay just doesnt work

lol double check that its a 2018? or it wasnt "bought" as an option when the person got the car. So might need coded.

All 18 models year came with BT should be on the idrive. Here is link from Youtube

apple carplay isn't standard in 2018 models. Does apple carplay show up in the connecteddrive section? If it doesn't show it available for $300 then you would need to buy activation plus the wifi antenna as well.

I think I had to pay for a subscription through BWM before apple car played appeared in my menu. Not sure that is still the case, even for 2018 models.

I had two of 18 models and both came equipped with Carplay. beginning 18 BMW offered Carplay at no charge option.

Did you check the VIN of the vehicle whether the car came with Carplay?

I have an 18 without Carplay. Doesn't bother me because I shut it off on my old car because it was so annoying. LOL

I have a 2018 M4 and mine came with carplay as standard I believe. Connect via bluetooth then go to manage bluetooth devices and it'll allow you to choose between connecting via bluetooth or carplay

I think in 2018 CarPlay was an option, if I can recall it was a 500 dollar option. In 2019, it became standard as a free trial. In 2020 or late 2019, they made it subscription free.

If it's not on the car, it may be possible to add it via the BMW Connected Drive store (on the web). I think the charge is $300 (same as factory ordering it)

Ran into same issue - 2018 Comp package M4. It's an option. Checking w dealer and prob grab wireless antenna. Prob need that prior to ordering and installing via USB

OP, as others have said, CarPlay is definitely not standard, even on 2018 models. I bought a 2018 F80 earlier this year, and when I was shopping around I found quite a few models from 2018 that didn't have it installed as an option.
Easy and cheap addition though

From the sticker on my 2018 F80 M3. No yearly subscription charge, that was dropped a few years ago.

It confirms I have Apple CarPlay for my car. It used to have an expiration date of something like 2038 but now there's no longer an expiration date listed.

If yours does not have it, you'll need to get an antenna (that plugs in to the back side of your radio) and have it coded. I installed the antenna myself on my 2017 in 15 minutes and had it coded virtually by Bimmertech in another 15 mins. Pretty pricey to retrofit, not sure if the BMW Dealer will do it for you.
