Prices are just going up around the board. Before long we'll have a 100k base M3, but I also expect the gap between it and a 911 to be pretty stable.

If you add CCBs to an M product that cost is irrelevant to the gap between P and M cars. If there is some reason which prompts you to put CCBs on an M4 it should also prompt you to do so when optioning a 911.

The M4 CS you looked at probably had CCBS, so discount them and you're left at 110k. What does Porsche offer at that price?
The CS comes the way you want to buy it. How much do you have to add to the 911 to get there?
In this link you can see the amish edition 911 S is 115k without options. As tested, 150k.

In the universe where a 911 S is 150k I don't see why BMW cannot sell a CS at 110k.

A friend has a manual 991.1 GTS. MSRP 148k and he doesn't have any weird things at all.

About the ZL1, I agree that sounds off, but it was someone on this board. It came up in this subforum.
I was just shopping them all a couple of times this year. I found a lot of 911 S MSRPs in the 120s and could be had for less. M3/4 CS without CCB ranged from 104 to low 110s. Of course BMW came way down and I got my M4 CS for high 70s, which of course Porsche couldn't and wasn't willing to touch. Luckily though I can still get a car that fits my needs and I like to drive in the 60s. Hopefully it isn't a POS like the GT350 because it really is a ton of fun to drive and an event to drive like no other car I've had before.

Any way, all I'm trying to say is strictly looking at MSRPs.........if I'm going to spend into the 100k realm I'm going to spend 10-15k more to get what I really want over settling. So if a M3/4CS is 110k and BMW isn't moving off of that I think it is well worth it to get a 911 S for 120ish. Or a M4 GTS at 130k plus I'm getting a manual 911 GTS.

My point is it appears BMW is jealous of Porsches profits and is trying to do the same, but I don't think they have the cars to back up their MSRPs in most comparisons. This is without taking into account steep discounts or what you can get each car used. Then it tilts heavily back into BMWs favor.

Edit: Agreed about Porsche fanboyism, it has actually turned me more off of the brand than price.

Sorry OP Debtm3 for the thread jacking, if I already haven't stated this before here are my thoughts on the cars you are talking about. If you want a more fun/involved driving experience I'd go with the M2C in preferably a MT. If you want an almost as fun to drive, but much more practical/better looking and faster car than get the M3 CS.

I'd maybe hold out and see what the M2CS is going to bring to the table as that could be the BMW to have driving wise. Up to you what is more important for your decision.

.
The M4 GTS is such a wonderful track tool... for it's intended purpose I think it's a good way to spend 130k. If they had made it in the 4 door version I would have one today

I may still get one, but how do I carry the tires to the track? A little trailer would look kind of ridiculous behind a GTS.

It's a pity about the GT350, so much potential!! and such wonderful music!

Agreed and after I did a few tweeks to it from Steeda and FP suspension wise it was really dialed in.
