After going axel back on Akrapovic, I haven't had the necessity to change. MPE was too high pitched, I found Akrapovic the best combination of everything. Course, sound is subjective so.

Yup, I'm with you - it's not that no I6 sounds good, it's just that the best don't sound anywhere near a decent V8. The e9x was the best sounding vehicle I've ever owned and probably one of the best I've ever heard - only some Ferraris i've heard sound better ... and it's not that other V8s (Ford, GM, et al) don't sound good, just not as good to me. And the new AMGs are ok, but I'd still take a porsche NA 6 (e.g., 991 gt3) over them. It's all just personal preference of course, but for me turbos ruin any engine no matter the trickery and some engines just sound stellar like the e9x or ferrari. The S55? 40 year old diesel shrimp boat coming back fully loaded in high seas.

The AMG C63S sounds really good to me, which surprises me because twin turbo. It's got a great rumble to growl to howl thing going on from inside the cabin. Could be the speakers though, one never knows anymore. I've only gotten the Cayman up to about 6k and that sounds pretty good, definitely different as I'm not used to an F6 sound. Excited to get it to the 7800 redline. Everyone says the 981 F6 was the best sounding and of course the GT3. Porsche has to put GPF filters on these cars and while they aren't monitored/required in NA, they are still there. People are removing them as fast as they can and are seeing a noticeable improvement in sound and some torque. I'm guessing the Macan has a similar setup. Arcades? S55, easily my least favorite. |

Agreed about the MPE for the F8X. Never liked it and never understood what people were raving about. My "favorite" setup on the M3/4 was a Remus rear with AA midpipe. It sounded ok, but never loved it, that's for sure. |

N55 is much better than an S55. I still think an OG M2 is best bang for the buck if you just want a weekend fun car on a budget. I just cant get over the seats. But as we talked about in PM I may buy a black/grey one and retrofit the SO interior from an M4. Best sounding vehicle I owned was an 03 terminator Cobra IMO. I loved the combined exhaust with the banshee scream from the blower. |

Wah want more kids? Mine needs new parents.
Pro tip, do not play monopoly or any other game with them. Hubby also wants a special warning on scrabble. The little girls I used to like beat us both on three language with it. Three. I got fined for bad faith tears 3 times while we were playing in swedish. I'll pay for the transporting them. I'll even keep their pets here so your life won't be as painful as mine is.

Hi. I tried to send you a pm today to apologise for for being a bitch. You didn't deserve me clawing your eyes out, I just really hate private messages. So this is my Minnesota hideout. The best people of this forum hang out here, this is a global thread.. For some reason they allow me to be around too. I hope you join us, and unlike in pm, here if I claw your eyes out, all the other members spank my bad behaviour out of me with freaky knowledge. Even our minnie dude, Minnie, can vouch here for me. Not only did your pm caught me on a bad moment, but also, I am a bitch. Welcome to the ssott (super secret off topic threat), if you so wish.

So on a new topic... who came up with these EL exhaust people are going crazy over. Some dude just said it sounds like a v8. Yeh maybe if youre feeding a turned off v8 through a woodchipper.

Saatanalliset säkeet (The Satanic Verses) writer, Salman Rushdie was just interviewed on telly.
I was like 12 when I read the book, it had words but I was very proud of my dad for buying it since the writer was sentenced to death for his words. I wanted to know what made his life so worthless. After seeing him on the telly promoting a master class (apparently a serie I assume) the writer is fine and I probably should reread the book if I manage to be pisssed off just because at the mature age of 12 words never hurt me, just educated me. I'm not dismissing the suffering of the writer at all, I'm just sad that the people handing out death sentences can't be 12.

As for the ELs, I think AA is the first big name vendor that is making it. There is one other vendor, but it didn't take off. Here's the vid from BMW Invasion where AA folks talk about the development. Its no V8 for sure, but there is an improvement in the note. |

Ive heard this fixes the s55 exhaust too many times to believe it without hearing it in person. AWE fixed it, then AA fixed it, then AA mid pipe fixed it, then AA mid plus remus fixed it, but none of them did. So please excuse my skepticism. I wish I could hear one in person. If its truly improved I would own another F80. It was seriously why I sold the car. |

I think that is why I enjoy the C63S (besides the TTV8, which BMW has managed to make theirs boring and characterless somehow). It isn’t trying to be a dual purpose car and MB just focuses on being a fast, fun luxury sedan. AA does make nice stuff, that is for sure. Last edited by minn19; 12-30-2020 at 09:42 PM.. |

I had and still have some reservations about it.
Basically what the PSCB is supposed to be, is a in between option for CCBs and regular Iron Brakes. With some benefits of the CCBs but not the cost of CCBs. PSCBs are basically Iron Rotors with a very hard surface coated with tungsten. What that gives you is basically rotors with the core of iron rotors but a tougher surface that won't rust or give out as much brake dust. With a combination of these type of rotors and special brake pads unique to these types of rotors and brakes, it would give you some benefits of Ceramic Brakes without nearly as much cost to run and replace. However, these are extremely new. It hasn't been out longer than 2 years basically. There are unknowns currently with these that made me hesitate getting them. For one, as I noted the brake pads are unique to these brakes. If you need to replace them, you HAVE to do OEM. There are no other options because Porsche are the only ones so far to do these and with Porsche OEM brakes, you would most likely need to replace them at around 15,000 - 20,000 miles. You would probably even need to at less then 15,000 if you drive extremely aggressively and constantly slam on your brakes. You probably won't need to replace the rotors but the tungsten on the rotors is only a certain millimeters thick. Once that coating is gone, I have no clue how rust proof the rotors will be as, that is one of the biggest things with brakes getting dirty again after washing, the rust forms. When they come off, they are all over your rims. There is no way around this. 2nd unknown for me is the durability. Porsche says they last 30% longer than regular Iron Rotors but since they are so new still, unless there is real world people repeating what Porsche says, I'd honestly wait a few years until this is more confirmed. For example, my Macan S, we were at around 15,500 miles and our fronts were down to close to 4mm left, while the rears were far better at 6mm+. Anything below 4mm you need to replace the brake pads. I don't drive that aggressively, so the fact that I came that close to needing to replace my brake pads on the front was a bit weird for me. I never had needed to do so with any BMWs, even my 3 series at around 20k miles, I wasn't any where close to needing to replace my brake pads. For me personally, if you are absolutely leasing then I wouldn't mind giving it a try. As, you don't have any worries about replacement while being able to test to see if they really are worth the 3k+ price point. If a car is like a GTS/GT4/GT3 (or any of the more performance oriented Porsche's), I'd just go with PCCBs since it is more well known and far more reliable compared to BMW's version. Unlike BMW's version, Porsche's CCBs don't actually squeal and the newer generation PCCBs on 2018+ can withstand more heat cycles and not be worn out nearly as much. You do have to replace the brake pads of course but it definitely is better compared to BMW CCBs. If I know that we aren't keeping our GTS after lease end, I would actually re-do my build and get the PSCBs just to test and see if they are worth it. I still think it is too new though.

I'm looking pretty closely at the Macan turbo - I know it's a bit over-priced, but it's standard with some of the options I want and .... why not if I can get a better % off than with the GTS. Probably won't be leasing and also probably won't be putting a lot of miles on the vehicle - or maybe average miles, but more freeway than city ... and will probably sell in 3ish years. Anyway, just a little nervous about the brakes, but do love the benefits!
