Maybe that's true, but he isn't wrong on what he posted from what I've seen/read.

Maybe you are the other way and want it to succeed so bad you don't want to believe it either.

No I frankly don't believe the car is failing. People are buying it. I just don't think people in general are paying MSRP or ADM. Never underestimate the power of BMW fanboyism. I mean the X4M, X6M, and E60 sold so history shows ppl will buy ugly vehicles.

I do think the car is a design failure but thats a whole different thing.

I'm squarely in the middle since I'm not really invested one way or the other. I don't own the car, haven't ordered one as of this time and still own my F82.

Not trying start anything, but I don't know how you can say that with a straight face. You are a big BMW fan which is obviously fine, but I don't know why you deny it like this at times. It's good to have varying opinions.

I'd be surprised if you don't end up in one. Please get one for out of state and don't support the insanity there.

I am a BMW fan. I never denied that. I'm also an avid GT3 fan boy. I don't deny that either. If I wanted one, I could get one at MSRP today. My point in saying I'm not invested is because I don't own a G nor have I ordered one. It's merely a topic of conversation.

100% agreed.

I don't know where the generational cut-off between "true M" owners and those who just want the flashy range-topper for commuting lies. I think with the turbocharged engines, BMW and BMW M attracted a whole lot of new people. So, F8x? That and also attractive lease deals and non-M models that are now less exciting have played a role as well.

BMW is just now catering to an even wider audience than ever before... as they tend to do with each generation, I think.

I made this username in 2006 when I went against my coupe roots and got rid of my 05' IB ZCP M3 for an '06 Topaz Blue 330i (...mistake made twice.....first from an '03 PY M3 coupe to an '04 G35; fiancé "at the time" woes; I was a dummy.....never again!!). I later moved into an '08 IB E90 M3 sedan and then went back to coupes in '09 with a JB E92 M3 coupe......and so on, and so on...

Cost. I can't afford a $150-180k car right now. Maybe after I pay off my bike and my commuter it'll free up some real estate, but $100k-ish is my comfortable limit right now. BMW has always been my default because I can't afford the specific Porsche I want. I've left BMW for Infiniti and Range Rover. I regretted both ventures, so I stick around.

BMW does offer a lot of value for the money and I don't think that has completely changed in the G8X. I do think it has changed a bit in certain markets where their prices are creeping up. But, the subsidized leases and big discounts will help offset that as usual. Plus the RWD 6MT M3 is the segment as there isn't any other sedan that offers that anymore.

I know you and others will think I'm nuts if not already. But I could've bought a very nicely specced/low mileage 991.2 GT3. I'm glad I passed on it for the CGTS 4.0. It's such a great and fun street car compared to the more serious track focused cars like the GT3s and my previous ZL1 1LE.

Man I couldn't imagine ever paying over $100k for any car even tho I technically could. The longer I go without a cool car the harder it gets to imagine paying premium for cars.
