New F80 M3 Owner - not sure what tune its on
Just picked up a 2017 F80 M3 with 44k miles.
Previous owner wasn't sure if it was tuned or not, but drove it from 20k - 44k miles with no issues. Only mods are VRSF intake and VRSF chargepipes. Stock DP. I'm 99% sure it was tuned as it reads 640hp and 560tq as the max values on the Idrive performance gauges. (pictured below) Wanted to see if anyone had an idea of how I could figure out what tune / software it's tuned on, I'm guessing a stage 1 MHD or BM3 due to the Idrive max value change but I' genuinely not sure. Tried figuring out previous owner before him but it was traded between a few dealers before he bought it so pretty much a dead end. He also got it dyno'd last year, and here are the dyno results. It drives great and has for the last 20k+ miles so i'm not too worried, but wanted to see what tune it's on before I move forward with any other mods or maintenance stuff. |

All aftermarket tunes have the option to adjust the max hp and torque values on the performance gauges. There’s no practical way to determine which tune is on the car.

At least it was tuned in Honolulu according to the dyno results. I would be more concerned where it was tuned living in Hawaii with a higher elevation than normal.
You'll probably never know for sure what tune this is though.

Unless you got the info from the previous owner really no way of telling. You could try to email your vin to BM3 and see if they can tell you if they have a record or not. Power looks pretty on par with a stage I power levels.

Maybe I'm off but can't you just revert back to stock with BM3 then re-tune however you want?....Or would it have to be confirmed tuned with BM3 currently in order to do that? Those power numbers in yours are the same in mine and the vehicle's flashed to STG1 BM3.

I have BM3 stage 1 and my gauges read 640hp & 550tq so it’s definitely tuned. Maybe email PTF first with the VIN and see if they can tell you if it was tuned with BM3 - not sure if they keep the VIN’s on file though.
