M4 F80Paul Tune Built Bottom, E85, WMI...Dyno

Want to give a shout out and thank you to F80Paul!!!
Paul has been tuning my car the pass few weeks...working on 2 seperate maps.
Paul's knowledge and service is 2nd to none IMO. I usally do 1 hit and Paul will review/revise within 24 hours. We're are still working on the tune, but I have to say car is smooth as butter!
I do need to calibrate the wastegates, Paul is tuning around it at the moment.
I want a little more power/torque from midrange-top end...we shall see if there's any left.

Dyno shop finally opened due to COVID-19. Finally got some numbers.

I reside in Colorado, 6500+ft above sea level.

Built bottom...MaxPsi rods, pistons, valve springs
MaxPsi crank hub
Pure Turbos 2+
FBO
E85
Port Injection
WMI 50/50

Dyno runs are all 5th gear, 83*, 11000DA
Was running E61 (according to Fuel-It ananlyzer)
WMI was off
Attachment 2300656

Numbers are looking really good! How much boost are you pushing? And by orange log, are you referring to the 803.39 whp output?

Thank you
Yes, orange is NOT Paul's map. I was doing a comparison since she's on the dyno.

Might peak a little higher but it's 45-60whp lost through out the midrange.

Makes sense! Whoever the previous tuner was, it seems they were doing the connecting rods a favor by keeping the torque down. Clearly, this sacrifices better driveability across the middle RPM range, but made up for it at the top.

Paul's tune looks a lot smoother, and likely took into consideration the forged rods and pistons with his calibrations.

Paul's tune is defintely smoother, the moment I received his base map I felt it.

Oh...running 28-30 boost.

Very impressive. you might have room for more power and less valve float with a full Stage 3 cylinder head but your current setup seems safer for turbo efficiency especially at high elevation.

My built started back in July 2019...at that time Kratos was not full blown yet if I remember correctly. Due to hardware/bolt on issues she is finally running properly, except for the wastegates as off now.

Since I'm running in this years AirStripAttack I'll stick with this for now.
Hope Paul can push a little more out off it...hoping 840-860whp for now.

I contacted HeadGames and they're roughly 6 weeks out.

So next season...
Kratos
HeadGame cylinder package
DriveShaft axles

And off course will request Paul to do the map revisions.

Is the wastegate calibration an issue with the Pure stage 2+? I feel like I have seen a few people with the 2+ that have issues with wastegate calibration

good luck this season! Kratos and PS2+ will produce around the same power unless you're going with their titanium compressor wheel. otherwise Kratos adjusted their marketing statement for their billet compressor wheel down to 850whp after some feedback from very optimistic customers.

that's about the typical turnaround time for Headgames. I would trust their head work the most but there are other options out there.

I've heard there is at least 4 other members with this calibration issue.
I learned about it since Paul brought it to my attention.
Not any turbo manufactures, installers/shops fault...just a necessary procedure. Some shop don't even know that needs to be done nor do they have the ISTA program.

Cool Thank you for that info.
I didn't know that...Titanium meaning Kratos TI version I'm guessing.

So it's not a known issue with the Pures, but rather a procedure that needs to be done? Do you have to do it with Kratos, or why is there multiple reports specifically with Pure 2+?

Honestly I don't have much knowledge regarding this so don't want to give misinformation.

Kratos do not come with wastegates...found that out few days ago when I called. Have to use the OEMs, so maybe calibration is required?

Wow, nice numbers. Is there a reason you went with 50/50 instead of full meth? I emailed Paul about getting a new map for E85+Meth and he recommended full meth.

Of course they come with wastegates. I think you mean they don't come with wastegate actuators (none do). They utilise ewgs controlled by the ecu just like pures. I trust pure.

Thank you for your clarification.
I'm still in the early learning stage...my first project car.

Mainly for cooling/cleaning reasons, but I'm thinking to run 100 meth on race days.

No need to swap turbos just lean on the pures more...they can make more power.

@OP, for the power you making, your times ought to much better.
Your 60-130 should be consistently in the 5's even with your DA.
Are you putting the power down nicely? What tires do have?
You are starting the timed run in 3rd gear right!? (and not a 4th gear pull into 5th).

No need to wait for race day - get rid of the H2O!
Do you mind posting a log too see what your IAT's are that you so concerned about....

More or less the altitude/DA plays a factor imo. Will definitely be more satisfying once I hit sub 5s consistently.

I’ll make another hit soon, will try earlier shifts.
All those hit was starting on 3rd shifting around 7200rpm.

Power is putting down nicely, no wheel spin at all. Running Toyos r888r
295/30/19

IAT is around 90-105

I’ll definitely try 100 meth once I run out the remainder 50/50.
