Camber plates
So with the new car - which will be tracked - wondering if there is a way to get to about front -1.5 with only camber plates. Have adaptive suspension without any other mods.
And yes, I have searched... |

Isn't the stock camber already -1.5deg in the front?

Either way, you'll probably want more like -2.5deg front camber for the track, which any of the available camber plates should be able to do.

I'm at -2.5 up front with just Ground Control camber plates. I also run NT-01s on track and autocross and this amount of camber with 0 toe seems to be perfect; they're wearing really nice and even.

Quick question about camber plates. Do they wear? If so, what wears exactly and how long is life span of something like Ground Control if used on track sometimes?

It's hard to believe you've searched much, there are plenty of discussions about camber plates and track alignment.
You usually can get well over -3 degrees with camber plates only, so -1.5 is a non-issue. I doubt you'll find -1.5 to be enough though. I run -2.5 as a compromise street/track setup.

I've never needed to replace the bearings on my GC camber plates, but they did become a bit noisier at the end of their life (E46: 6-years, E92 6-years, F82 4-years, F82cs 1.5 years and counting)

My concern running -2 or more on stock ride height is will it look weird given the large wheel gap in the front. If I'm not mistaken, your CS is lowered, no? I don't have any issues with the rears wearing oddly, stock camber seems to keep them evenly worn for the most part. It's just the fronts and I'd prefer not to lower the car/add HAS so on the fence with going too much on camber. If this were a dedicated track car, I'd have it up to -3.5 like I had on the GTS2 E36, but this is a daily so trying to keep the mods to a min to take it back to stock when it's time to trade Don't think the dealer I got the new car from was too happy seeing I had zip-tied the brake sensors to the suspension and still had race studs installed on the trade in... |

A question to all of you with Ground Control plates. I had a set of GC plates installed a couple of months ago, this weekend I was able to switch back to summer tires from snows. My floor jack was always really close to going under the jack point but this time was a No-Go by about 1/2". Does installing GC plates have the effect of lowering the front suspension by a 1/2" or so?

While we're on GC Camber plate discussion. Just got a set sent to me but they were 5 bolt instead of 3 bolt on my 2015. Thinking about drilling out the other holes to make these work. Figure BMW changed the design for a reason right?

Wanted to report back, Ground Control got back to me and said it was ok to knock out the studs to convert mine back to a 3 bolt config. Weight reduction!!! :P

I get an alignment done every spring before the track season starts. Since I do ~20 track days per year, I replace tires way more often than I get an alignment done .

If you are on stock wheels or don't have lower offset wheels the camber gains will make the wheel gap look more significant. That's really all you have to worry about.
