Thanks
I tried the suggested fix as described in the Tommy L Garage video. Applying anti seize to the strut pinch bolt worked for about a day of driving but the noise returned. I ended up removing the whole strut assembly, applying anti seize to the strut collar and lower strut where the parts make contact. Re torqued everything with a new bolt to spec. Also made sure the whole suspension was under load while tightening. I've been click free for about a week. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

I wish I could remember the bolt JIMBOO suggest. I think it was near the collar. But I dont remember. I just know I had the exact same sound and whatever video JIMBOO had posted pointing out which one to tighten worked for me.

Jimbooo

What was the bolt you suggested to tighten under load that solved the clicking? Because your suggestion worked for me back in 17.

Jimboos solution worked for me. He doesnt appear to have the video up anymore. But I would PM him for the solution. All I remember was telling my shop "some guy on the internet said to loosen and tighten this bolt" and them being in utter disbelief when whatever that method was... worked! lol.

I seem to think it was a bolt around the shock collar. But dont quote me. I dont really remember. But im sure member Jimboo will tell you.
Glad it helped. Yes it was the pinch bolt that holds the bottom of the shock in place. However just to confuse things a few months later I had further noises. Similar but different. That was solved by taking the car to a bmw specialist who removed the top mounts and refitted with correct torque as apparently they were not fitted properly by the original installer.

I can't seem to attach that video again though. It's only letting me upload pics for some reason. Here's a screenshot of the relevant bit. (Taken from under the car looking up towards the shocks)

Pinch bolt yes as pictured in diagram (5). But you will need to loosen that bolt then preload the suspension - see pic by using another jack to push it up for preload. Then you tighten the pinch bolt to 2 extra turns over recommended specs. Noise never came back for me after kw has.
