Thumbs up Uniden R7 Mount (Non-BlendMount)

I was waiting for BlendMount for the R7 but they are taking it too long.
I went with RadarMount on Amazon and it is 1/3 cost of BlendMount, and it came with a free tap RJ11 power cable. I just want to share.

The radar itself is pretty awesome as it is a step up from thr R3 with arrows. It is everythnig as you expected in 600 dollars range.

One of the most annoying feature is (also it biggest selling point) is that it can pickup so far away. I drive in the city a lot and it keeps on beeping on Ka band which detecting radar all over the places. I guess if I am doing a lot of interstate travel then it is nice but in a city it is just driving me insane sometime. I have it at the lowest setting on everything but the sensitivity is out of control. I now want to move back to the DFR9.

I am used to the beeping tone of Uniden. I guess you can also say I am Brand Loyalty.

Yes, my Navigation is up to date. I got them over the air from BMW server.

No Laser falsing yet. And to be honest, I havent encounter a laser hit. I got the R7 not too long ago and havent spent much time on it. The position I have it (under the rear view mirror) is one of the best place you can mount a radar.

The v1 falses all the time with the 18F80 Nav unless it’s moved above the drivers head. I should test fit where you have yours.

My wife and I both have a V1 mounted in a BlendMount below the rear view mirror. Hers is a 2018 M3 and she doesn't get any false alerts.

I bought the same mount and RJ11 mirror tap kit for my Uniden DFR9. It’s pretty solid. To install, pry the clamshell behind the mirror apart from the center. Insert the red lead to the red wire with the white stripe. Insert the black lead to the brown wire. It’s a tight fit so you may need to use needle nose pliers to work the leads into the plug. That power tap turns off 15 min after the car shuts down.

My only complaint is that the mount is a tight fit in my m4 and restricts the mirror movement a bit and the detector is a bit further forward than I would have liked. But it’s good enough and looks clean.

Are you sure it is 15 mins on your vehicle? Mine turns off right away as soon as I turn off the engine. It uses the same power as the mirror.

In case anyone is interested, BlendMount has one out for the R7 now. I just installed it over the weekend along with the mirror tap from Amazon.
