Phorbes - Fashion Gray M3 Build Journal

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi guys! Fellow car nut here. I've had quite the journey in making my way back into an F80. It's been a full 6 months since I traded in my '15 YMB F80 and it's so great to be back!!!

I adored my previous F80 - racked 38k hard miles on her and she didn't skip a beat. She was stage 2 with downpipes from 1000 Miles on. I went through 4 different sets of tires and ended up trading her in. I had a bug, something about being a sensible father of 2 and needing something more practical... I saw myself changing my car stable to accommodate a large comfortable dad-mobile ('18 F150 King Ranch) along with what I though was my dream car ('10 997.2 GT3)

This at the time seemed like the ultimate set up of functionality and fun factor. I was driving my F150 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) as I took my son to daycare and that left me Tuesdays and Thursdays to run amok with my GT3. This all seemed like a good plan to me, but what I failed to realize was the "daily fun factor" had vanished.

After much thought, I decided to offload the GT3 and return to old faithful, only this time, since I was buying the exact car I had the previous 4 years, I had to make her extra special and unique.

I'm 31 years old and I've had over 40 different automobiles during this period and like many of you, it seemed incredibly hard for me to fathom purchasing the same exact car again. I've never even considered that I would do such a thing.

Then again, I've never loved a car the way I loved my M3. She was just that good.

Memories are made in your daily driver, stories are told of your weekend toys.

May the memories continue!

Meet Hershey!

As a daily driver - its a no brainer. I thought I could manage but a 997.2 gt3 can only be truly enjoyed on the wide open road.

I'm 6'2 - 240. I sat ON the seats and not IN them. Just didn't fit right. I loved it when I could slam the gears and rip a mountain up. But 95% doesn't involve that and therefore I had to do the sensible choice and buy another M3 and drop 20k on aftermarket parts

I had an itch, I scratched it and now I'm back

Brembos and MP HAS arrive tomorrow. Lips and side skirts are on my dinning room table. I'll take her in to get dressed up this weekend awaiting the almighty BBS LM's to arrive in the next few weeks.

I used to own a 997.1 GT3 with 4K miles + GMG bypass. I miss that car every day. My '18 M4, while a nice car for me, *pales* in comparison to the dry sump, flat 6 911 experience.

You're essentially burning $$$$s going back to the F8X and that's just depreciation alone. A 997 GT3 is like a steel Rolex Submariner. You're really just parking money. Iconic.

But hey, if you don't fit, you must acquit. Enjoy.

Obviously if I was a small little fella that fit in the seats and drove on open roads to and from work, I would of without a doubt kept the GT.

Being able to drop off my son at daycare and listen to music at high volume with clear sound and not having to scream obscenities when I hit a patch of traffic and my left calf goes numb because of it is... priceless.

I think since you got a DCT you're more inclined to hold the GT3 in high regard because you're driving an automatic now and you lust for that 3rd pedal again.

To each their own

Gorgeous exterior and interior color combination. Did you already install Brembo BBK? Please post pictures of why there is no such thing as over engineered brakes.
