interesting... Mine was the complete opposite condition.... On both account, Sunny bright hot heat wave in SoCal in the middle of the day. Clear as day no obstruction... But ithe car was facing the sun. Im wondering if the camera/sensor was blinded by the sun?!?!

I just had this happen for the first time last night. M4 has around 3600 miles.
The car was clean there were no bugs or anything blocking sensors. However it was raining all day. I drove the car to pickup food with no problems and parked(shut off) for 5 minutes. When I started it to leave it gave me both the 'Collision Malfunction' and 'Chassis Malfunction'. It seemed to drive fine and hasn't come back. Also i'm sure nothing happened to it while it was parked as it was visible. Seems like the rain might have somehow caused it. |

Mine does it when its hot out and in direct sunlight. Service guy said if the module for that system gets hot it will throw that fault. Once it cools down everything is back to normal.
My only gripe is while that fault is active the Heads Up Display wont show what the speed limit is. I like that feature. I'm in Phoenix btw Last edited by HKMP7; 10-29-2015 at 12:59 AM.. |

I was just told by someone on here that there is a TSB on this issue. Its happened to him while his car was parked inside a garage ( so no heat or rain exposure). His camera ended up being replaced.

If your car displays a white exclamation mark then its temporary and does not fall under the TSB. If its a Yellow error then the TSB applies. Ask your dealer to check TSB 660615 which addresses the problem and replaces the camera

Quick Update
Sorry if I haven't posted an update for a while. I was waiting for my first oil sevice to get this done. I barely just reached 1000miles. The malfunction only happened twice and went back to normal so i thought it can wait.
So here's the quick update: I should first say that last week I also was also having other issues with my rear camera --- on the top view angle, my camera on the screen is looking red or sometimes green and much darker than my sides. (See my pix attached) BMW service techs found out that there is a TSB issued and it is a replacement for the camera thats on the windshield... Which didnt make sense to me at first. I was told if they replace it, that should fix everything (even my rear camera problems)... Since its all in one system. The front camera replacement is related to my issue with the collision malfunction.... But im not entirely convince if it will fix my rear view. I had to leave me M4 there for now and pick up today or tomorrow. I will post another update if this really does fix the issues. Stay tuned. Last edited by Alvinized52; 11-19-2015 at 12:44 PM.. |

The interesting thing is that the 2016 models on the lot also have the front blacked out...maybe only 2015 F80s had this feature. My dealership aka asshats couldn't pull up the bulletin mentioned above. Last edited by smh_amg_m4gts; 02-09-2016 at 10:50 AM.. |

I checked a 2016 M4 on the lot today and it also had the front and back parts blacked out. Maybe there was a software upgrade that changed our top down views...

Update
I thought i fixed this issue the last time the dealer replaced my front cam... But it happened again yesterday. It happened at the same exactly parking space it did the last time. Outside temperature was past 80degrees on a warm sunny day in Socal.... Just like last time. Car was facing the sun like the last time too p. Im thinking that is what really caused this issue.. Im convinced The bright direct sunlight will temporarily stun your front cam.
Right now everything is running perfectly.
