Great write up! I just removed my JB4 in preparation for a different tuning option. While look into Bendcalibration’s flex fuel kit, I came across your post and I’m now interested in adding Ecutek to replace my current BEF. now you’ve had this setup on your car would you still recommend using Ecutek and Bendcallibration? With your flex fuel setup are you still running pump gas every 3 months?

Yes, I would absolutely still recommend Ian and Ecutek. My flex fuel setup is so convenient and the power is great.

I'm thinking about going down the flex fuel route on my F87, I was wondering if you could expand on what you need to do for road logging with bend calibration? Is it just a 3 or 4th gear pull until red line?

When Ian is tuning the flex fuel do you need to run say 95 octane and then empty the tank and fill up with E85?

I made the switch and I’m going through the logging steps now. The first logs are 3rd gear pulls on half a tank or more of full 93. Then switch to E85. The Bend Calibration flex fuel kit is very clean install that mounts under the car (I installed in under an hour).

Ecutek is a great platform. Map switching (soft torque to full torque) and logging is very straightforward using the Ecutek app with flashing requiring a Windows PC.

As mentioned just 3rd gear logs then eventually 4th. You don't need to empty tanks just start with pump and move up in ethanol content when he tells you it's a breeze.

Follow the guide he emails you yo the T & get ready to have some fun!

No I filled up with half a tank of E33 remaining. Added 8 gallons of E85 brought that up to E58 or so.

I didn't run down the tank completely hehe

Tires. stock tires are not gonna hold the power that you will be putting down.

I'm already running cup 2s in the rear. I'm thinking I need a new alignment to reduce negative camber in the rear

I'm running 305 R888R in the rear and have no issue with traction. Even at 285 I was still doing fine. stock camber and everything.

Did you get their flex fuel option too? I'm currently getting all their goodies, motiv controller id1050x injectors and a EoS intake manifold. Excited.

Are you upgrading your low pressure fuel pump, too? I’m planning to add the EoS manifold with injectors to my Bend Calibration setup. Also curious how the manifold fits- have you installed it?

Also I know this is an Ecutek thread, but I recall in another thread you mentioned the BM3 OTS are flex fuel enabled; did you go custom or the OTS route?

I wish I knew...EoS doesn't reply to anything but from what I heard the fitment is incredible. Wasn't planning on upgrading the fuel pump, just using this:

https://www.bendcalibration.com/shop/p/f8x-ultimate

+ EoS Manifold w/Fueling & ID1050x injectors
+ Motiv Re|Flex Controller

I’m on ecutek and just finished my tune with Bend. Very happy with the results. There were a total of 18 revisions sent before settling on this final calibration.

Ps2 HF + PI meth + ultimate kit FF, stock LPFP & HPFP

I had purchased the EOS manifold earlier and intended to use it for PI meth, not injectors.

Got everything fitted up and installed, and the hood would not close. The charge cooler reservoir cap was about an inch too high.

Mind u I’ve got an Alibaba carbon GTS hood, and clearance even before the EOS manifold install was very tight with my EOS charge cooler. It would actually be slightly touching.

But with the EOS manifold, it wasn’t even close to being able to close. I can’t say if fitment would have been better if I’d had the stock hood on but I had to remove the EOS manifold and in the end went with drilling the stock manifold for my PI meth injection. It’s worked great so far and provides all the fueling I needed

Thanks for the info on the manifold. I was actually ready to purchase it.

Yeah I felt I had to say something.

Fwiw though there are many who have fitted it with zero issues. I don’t know what hoods they’re running though. I’m sure stock clears

It is a beautiful piece of kit and I would have loved to make it work. But I love the GTS hood more. 😂
