1/4 With Toyo R888R question
Guys,
I have a question. After a disappointing 1/4 mile last time I went to drag strip. No traction, I decided to get some toyo r888r drag radials. My question is what psi should I run the tires? Should I do a quick burnout or spin the tires a bit. Launch Control ? Thanks in advance. |

Not a drag tire but it should bite.
Try running 28 psi in the rear and drop it each run. Only clean debris from the tire with the burnout, you're not a slick but make sure they're not cold either. |

R888R has a very stiff sidewall meant to withstand the lateral forces of road racing. Not the best tire for drag racing, but let us know how it went.

M1:
Set To Everything off, sport plus engine, comfort suspension and automatic transmission in the highest setting (not manual S3) M2: Set same, but put transmission in S3. 1. Pull up in M1 and spin your tires for a second. They get rocks and shit on them. Floor it for like until 2nd to clean them off. 3. Put car in M2 mode. Mash brake and floor it. Drop rpms to 2800 if stage tune and 3200 if stage one (set pressures 22-26 psi. Reset tpms or it won't allow launch control) using the left cruise control. 4. Let go of the brake on the second yellow light. This has no impact on your time. 5. You may have to back off gas a moment after shifting into second if tuned, but roll out lightly then go back in. Smooth sailing by last half of second. 6. Manually shift at 6500 for last two gears. That is what has gotten me my best times at a shorter track. 7. Low DA is important too. There is a website to check. As low as possible. 8. A small tank of gas with some race gas helps too. Definitely only a small tank of gas. Hope that helps! I got 1.7 60 foot times with that method. |

Didn't know about resetting tpms, you can do this on steering wheel without going to into idrive?

You can't do it from the wheel. I always lower the tire pressure at the gas station before going to the track. Then reset the tpms from I drive when I get there. But do that BEFORE you race, because I don't think you'll be able to activate Launch control with the warning on.

Nice I'm assuming you get into 5th gear in the 1/4? Seems most guys shifting at 6-6500 rpm get into 5th. The guys who rev too high and fall out of power band are finishing in 4th? It sounds like to me.
