Condition of car for track purposes
Hey all,
I’m thinking of getting a car for track purposes. I’m looking for some feedback as to what type of condition i should get it in. These are scenarios that i have come across: 1. Salvage title, car runs, interior/exterior needs work, 150k miles plus, $7k-$12k, local to me 2. Salvage title, car runs, interior/exterior great shape, less than 30k miles, $17k, local to me 3. Clean title, car runs, interior/exterior good shape, 50k-100k miles, $18-$23k, local to me 4. Clean title, car runs, prepped for track(would still upgrade/remove parts on it), 56k miles, $27k, car is in florida and i’m in california Looking to get an 04-07 s2000. Any help would be appreciated. If you have any other ideas, please share! Thanks in advance! |

Get the DCT one. Could not have been over revved by previous owner.
Probably 2 or 3 would be my choice.

My $0.02 OP, get a competition prepared car that still has title and registration on planned non operation.
I got my spec Miata for $12k ($14k after I got custom laguna exhaust and a catalytic converter put back in, and used aim dash) and then got it smogged and registered for road usage again. It’s the best of all worlds because it can be raced in Nasa and SCCA, will pass tech at any club for track day usage, and it can be as simple as a street car if you arrive and drive on 200tw tires instead of the spec Toyo RR The only downside is that you can’t blast away other people with HP like you can in f80 and will have to work on your passing to get around fast cars that park it in the corners if you do HPDE and not w2w |
