This took me about 2.5 hours to install (never done it before).
With a lift the rear springs are changed with a single bolt dropping the control arm. 30 minutes both sides tops. Anything more than 3 hours labor is a heist. |

Im in the Dallas area, anyone have any suggestions on locations? Two places have quoted me $500 and $600. I assume just do it myself instead- I just don't want to...

Agreed, took me a little over 3 hours and I was repositioning the car for every corner, also first time working on the F80. Having done it once I think I could do it in under 2 hours, a shop with a lift should do it in an hour or less. 3 bolts and one nut to take out in the front and 2 bolts in the back.

Springs can be easily installed on these cars in under 3 hours by those with even the most basic level of knowledge. There are plenty of install tutorials to follow, step by step. And the tools required are pretty darn standard. In fact, there is a tutorial (which I'll link below) that shows you how to do it without removing the top hat, eliminating the need for a spring compressor and preventing you from having to waste time removing the strut braces.
2 weeks ago I installed Eibach springs in just over 2 hours and I was taking my time, triple checking everything. I went this route after getting absurd quotes, upwards of $1700 and 8-10 hours of labor (with no alignment). I'm really glad I saved the money and tackled it myself. It really was one of the easiest car projects I've ever done. I promise it sounds/seems more daunting than it really is. Here's the guide I followed:

If you know the tricks all 4 springs can be installed in less then 30 minutes on a lift. The front struts dont even come out of the car and in the rear you just remove the lower control arm bolt and the springs fall out. Easiest spring install.

The dealership actually quoted me only $300 to install... I was not expecting the BMW dealership itself to be the least expensive route.

It took me 4 hours with hand tools in my garage. An impact to remove and replace the bolt connecting to the rear subframe would have saved a lot of time. I can’t see this taking someone with a lift more than 3 hours. $300-400 is fair.
