If I remember correctly a place that quoted me $1000 showed me on their computer that the rears take 2 hours and the front 7 hours.

I ended up going to a shop that does these all the time and it was quick.
Yeah u are in NJ, the place matters. The shops in SE sucks , i still cant believe anyone has the business courtesy to tell me they will charge 8 hrs by book when actual work takes 4 hrs !!!,thats a complete rip off

I've called a few more places and I've gotten even more confused, no one was able to give a solid number. I've gotten prices from 300-800 with no promises

no good idea. Always do a wheel alignment on the same day or one or two day after you install the springs, shocks or coilover suspension. because without a proper alignment your car rides terrible, you get an extreme wear in the bushings, ...

and if the car stelles do the alignment again. Don't save money on the wrong side ...

This took me about 2.5 hours to install (never done it before).

With a lift the rear springs are changed with a single bolt dropping the control arm. 30 minutes both sides tops.

Anything more than 3 hours labor is a heist.

Agreed, took me a little over 3 hours and I was repositioning the car for every corner, also first time working on the F80. Having done it once I think I could do it in under 2 hours, a shop with a lift should do it in an hour or less. 3 bolts and one nut to take out in the front and 2 bolts in the back.

Springs can be easily installed on these cars in under 3 hours by those with even the most basic level of knowledge. There are plenty of install tutorials to follow, step by step. And the tools required are pretty darn standard. In fact, there is a tutorial (which I'll link below) that shows you how to do it without removing the top hat, eliminating the need for a spring compressor and preventing you from having to waste time removing the strut braces.

2 weeks ago I installed Eibach springs in just over 2 hours and I was taking my time, triple checking everything.

I went this route after getting absurd quotes, upwards of $1700 and 8-10 hours of labor (with no alignment). I'm really glad I saved the money and tackled it myself. It really was one of the easiest car projects I've ever done. I promise it sounds/seems more daunting than it really is.

Here's the guide I followed:

If you know the tricks all 4 springs can be installed in less then 30 minutes on a lift. The front struts dont even come out of the car and in the rear you just remove the lower control arm bolt and the springs fall out. Easiest spring install.

Is there a DIY/writeup documenting these tricks?

Yes the video above shows them also there is a guy on YouTube that does it in 15 minutes. I think it's called 15 minute spring install. Haha.

I'd say a competent shop can get them all done in under an hour.

**Update**
The dealership actually quoted me only $300 to install... I was not expecting the BMW dealership itself to be the least expensive route.

It took me 4 hours with hand tools in my garage. An impact to remove and replace the bolt connecting to the rear subframe would have saved a lot of time. I can’t see this taking someone with a lift more than 3 hours. $300-400 is fair.

For the M Performance suspension, if I am using a lift, can the height be adjusted in front and back with all four wheels on?
