VA Personal Property Car Tax
Has anyone received their car tax for the year yet (specifically anyone in VA)? Mine seemed to have gone up by $200 since last year? Shouldn't these be going down every year as car value goes down?

Not yet. Mine appreciated one year moving from one county to another. They're slow to depreciate. There needs to be a law that the state must buy your property for what they say it's worth when you try to challenge them on it. :

I just called fairfax county tax department and they told me my 2018 car value was incorrectly assessed last year. It should have been $62k but was valued at $55k. This year they are saying it is valued at $59k which explains the increase from last year.
