Need some advice on extended warranty

So, it looks like I am about to buy a 2017 M4 competition with 28000km on it. The car has approximately 13 months of warranty left.

I inquired about extended warranty and was quoted $3900 for an additional 2 years or 1200000km. I have negotiated paying only 50% of the price at $1950.

I don't plan on driving the car in the winter.

Should I buy the extended warranty or not?

Thanks

Is it BMW warranty or 3rd party?

Do you plan on modding the engine?

OEM BMW warranty, or nothing.

Don't bother with First Canadian, or any other 3rd party coverage.

For the record, I am talking about BMW service inclusive warranty. And I negotiated the price for added warranty with the sales manager.

At this point I don't plan to mod it, but I will likely do so later.

Thanks

I'm assuming he's working out something with the price of the car and the extended combined. If he's selling at 50% without a car purchase let him know lots of buyers will interested and he can become the top extended warranty sales guy!

I am actually buying an M4 from them. I asked them to throw in the warranty and they countered with 2 year warranty half price.

Have a read of what the extended warranty covers. I bought mine (cpo vehicle) and read the warranty paperwork when I got home...it basically covers the engine and tranny...everything else is pretty much excluded and the warranty is null and void if you ever race the thing (...it's an M car for Pete's sake!)

Both the engine and tranny seems very reliable in this generation of vehicle so I'm not sure it's worth much more than the deal you're getting.

Sounds like you got quote for the maintenance (plan)warranty, not the extended repair warranty everyone thinks you're asking about. Quoted price doesn't match these so I might be wrong. If it is for the maintenance plan I wouldn't buy it but extended repair warranty sounds good for that price if it covers more than just an engine and transmission.

I was a Pre-Owned Sales Manager for a BMW store in the Toronto area for a bit... firstly, take the VIN and contact a BMW Service department to see if the vehicle has extended warranty already. If it does, you can just transfer it yourself or ask the dealer for a form to transfer the warranty from the previous owner to you. If the vehicle does not already have an extended warranty, make sure the warranty they are offering you is a CPO Warranty and not third party (First Canadian, etc.). With third-party warranties, service departments have a harder time claiming warranty work and you normally have to pay a deductible ($100-200/warranty claim). $1950 for a 6yr/120k is pretty good pricing though if it's CPO - there's not a ton of markup at that price.

What they are offering is the platinum coverage for the following price:

72 months / 100 000 km 1950$

72 months / 120000 km : 2110$

The PDF scan refers to Vehicle Service Plan (VSC)
