Have you taken your M3/M4 to its top speed?

I am by no means a track guy. I'm an enthusiast when it comes to my M3. I've gotten it easily 100 mph but have not had the nerve to go way beyond that. I'm curious how many of you have taken your car to its speed limit? Is it stable? Only on a track?

I think you mean 100 mph no? lol Fastest I've seen on the HUD its 152 mph. I must admit that was very irresponsible and stupid behavior on my behalf as that was on an empty public 3 lane highway late at night.

As far as the CHP (and my wife) is concerned I've never gone faster than 70.

I don't know what the speed limit of the car is, but it's way over 150 mph - at least that's what 3 countries in Europe tell me.

Long drive to Vegas. Open road and a Valentine-1...

Haven't hit the max, though.

I had it pegged against the limiter at an indicated 269km/h (167mph) on a few occasions during ED on the German Autobahn .

237km/h (147 mph) on Autobahn. I got winter tires on at the moment and they (Blizzaks) are only rated for 240km/h.

Yeah, I wonder if the limiter is a myth? Or maybe different on ED cars? Cause I sure as hell couldn't find it.

I had mine close to 155mph before I had to back off for a corner, this was on a dead straight UK road and I was racing a Nissan 350Z who challenged me, lol haha he started tailgating me and I then stuck the car into M2 mode and gunned it, brings a smile to my face everytime and he thought he had me as well. Still don't know if mine is limited or not

Only by your skill and imagination from the sounds of it.

I haven't taken my car anywhere near the limit because I don't particularly
want to spend the night in the Big House.

Removed with pretty much any tune if you've done that. Also I've heard in practice the limiter kicks in closer to 163-164 mph vs 155.

Oh and no, OP I have not hit the limiter. But when I do, I promise it will be top down.

I suspect that those that saw numbers beyond the limit benefitted from BMW speedos overstating speeds.

ah, that makes sense, no tune here and the limit is definitely above 160. For my comfort level, up to 120/130 is fairly easy and almost not noticeable. Above that I get uncomfortable mostly because, for me, I have the strong feeling I'm going much faster than I can react to anything: road debris, other cars doing stupid shit, etc.

About 40 minutes after I left the Welt a dude signaled into the left lane, started moving over such that I had to lay on the brakes, and then kept moving left until he rammed into the median barrier and almost flipped the car. A bunch of rocks and debris took tiny gouges out of my new individual paint and dinged up the windshield.

Anyway, I'm glad I wasn't going 160 when that happened.

Did a track day 2 months back and saw 145 and 150 at the end of the straight on a lot of occasions. Decided to pay more attention to braking points and corner entry than speed.

There definitely is a limiter. The speed increases with ease and then abruptly stopped increasing at an indicated 269km/h. I have read of a few GPS measured top speeds to be ~163mph (Car and Driver being one of them), which is higher than the advertised 155mph, and a ~4mph speedo error makes sense.
