Expensive Tires!

Damn, I knew tires wouldn't be cheap on my 2018 Comp Pkg M4 (with the 20" wheels), but I'm looking at $1500 (after taxes and mounting costs it will be more like $1800) for 4 new tires.

Does this sound about right to others?

Also, will BMW offer some kind of warranty on the tires (like if I roll over a nail?)

Or should I be looking to get new tires from a local tire shop??

Yup sounds about right in the neighborhood. For extra $$$ they or any tire shop will offer you road hazard.

Welcome to performance cars, especially when you get into the bigger tires like those.

Currently $1257 shipped with rebate at Tire Rack (road hazard included). And don't forget those cashback websites which offer an additional 6% cashback.
Don't buy tires at the dealer, unless you have a great rapport with your SA

Another benefit of the 18" wheels. I got a set of the new Continental ExtremeContact Sports back in December for $870 + mounting from Tire Rack. Love these tires so much more than the MPSS.

Discount Tire Direct is running a promo for the next 5 days- $100 off $400+

You can get a set of MPS4S, 265/285's, for $1,136 shipped. Mount/balance/TPMS should be ~$120-150 for all four.

I bought my tires from simpletire.com

I just bought a set of toyo proxe t1 sport 275/35/20 and 305/25/20 for under 500 with free shipping. R888 was under 800. They are running a toyo 15% discount on top. I never buy from tire rack because their price not good unless it's clearance item.

Sounds about right. But on the plus side...you'll get over the sticker shock quickly once you see how much fun it is to turn hard earned money into tire smoke.

You shouldn't need to replace all 4 tires simultaneously unless you're tracking the car. Rears will wear out before the front with spirited street driving.

I also have a comp package but did not go with cup 2s when replacing my tires. I first went Hankook (only good for burnouts) then Pilot 4s then R888R.

If you want R888R I can get you a better price than tire rack. Dm me.

FWIW, my local BMW dealership, and another one within driving distance, has a deal for "BMW Approved tires". It's buy 3 and get 1 free. Could save you about $200+ if they meet the BMW approved part.

Just paid $1389 ( $1319 after my rebate ) with 2 years hazard warranty on 275/30/20 front and 295/30/20 rears Michelin 4S and then paid $68 for installation at a local shop in SoCal.
So $1800 is BS lol

It's in North Hollywood , Mike's Alignment.
He popped up as one of their tire installation vendors and had the lowest price.
