Has anyone tried the Ferodo DS1.11 on stock brakes?

Im currently BM3 stage 2 with catless downpipes on 91 oct and find my current brake setup which is Ferodo ds2500s with braided brake lines doesn't brake hard enough.

Has anyone tried the Ferodo DS1.11 for aggressive street use? How is the cold bite on those compared to the Ds2500s?

DS2500 pads are *very* capable high performance pads, it's pretty hard to imagine anyone needing anything more on the street, unless of course you drive around town like an F1 driver on a closed race course on r-comp tires. DS1.11 pads are *track* pads, and require heat to be effective, and require super sticky tires to realize the benefits. Running them on the street, like most other full-on track pads, would no doubt also be a VERY noisy proposition. If you want to sound like a freight train pulling in to the station at every stoplight, be my guest though :-)

Assuming you have no air in the lines, fresh brake fluid, and a firm pedal, I'd suggest running stickier tires if you want to stop "harder".

Thanks for the answer!

I heard the DS1.11 pads has a stronger bite than the DS2500 even from low temperatures as the Mu Friction Coefficient is higher all across the temperature range. Is that true?

The downside of the DS1.11 is the screeching loud noise it has when you brake hard.

No, you don't want DS1.11 for street driving. The aggressive bite + insane squealing is too much to bear.

I track the DS1.11 and there is no way I would drive on those on the street. I do drive them a day or two before and after track days to clean up the rotors but they squeal like a pig and do not stop the beat unless they are hot.

I thought the DS1.11 bites quite harder than the DS2500s even when they are both cold?

TommyGarage on YouTube even says so when he changed the brakes from DS2500s to DS1.11 and flushed the brake fluid.

I do agree they bite hard or have a very consistent brake feel when on track. The PFC08 pads on the track had a much softer brake start and got progressively bit harder. I did not like the soft bite into aggressive bit feeling.

I have never driven the DS2500's so I have no reference.

When the Ds1.11's (on the street) are cold they do stop cold but i am comparing them to when I am on the track or compared to OEM pads on the street. They have a great deal of grinding and they require more brake pressure than track/OEM pads. When I am on track, I usually brake hard on the out lap because they will squeal even on track if not hot. A track like Road America with its long straights and when you get in heavy traffic, the brakes can cool down quite a bit and squeal in the braking zone. They still instill confidence and brake well.
