Seems kind of late for the release of the CS.

M2 CS should be here by early summer. I would think the M4 CS would come months before the M2 CS.

Judging by how long it is taking to put the M4CS on the market after it's official launch, I seriously doubt this will be the case. I think M2CS (or whatever it's gonna be called) will more likely see market in 2019.

So if Q2 for the M4CS, when will we see the pricing guide in Canada?

I read somewhere that M2CS development is already done the reason why its not being released now is because BMW does not want to steal the M4 CS thunder releasing 2 CS model very close one another. M4 CS needs some breathing room before the M2 CS can be released.

I believe the M2 CS will be at dealers by summer 2018. Least I hope since I am number 1 on 2 dealer lists for it.

That is my point. The M4CS development was completed early this year. It was officially launched in April of this year. But will only be available in North America early summer 2018.

Using the same timeline for the M2CS, considering it has not even been officially unveiled yet, would mean a 2019 market availability for North America. About one year after the M4CS.

Did you get a signed letter from the dealers to sell at MSRP?

In Canada (or in Quebec at least) there is a law that prevents dealers from selling above MSRP

Interesting to know!

The post I was curious about came from someone in SoCal, where apparently it's the opposite...dealers are required to charge above sticker for any car people really want!

That applies to all of Canada, but there's a big loophole. There is no law governing bullshit fees. So the dealers use that to charge like 10k for freight and pdi...

Yup exactly. I know of two different dealers still asking above $105k for a 2017 30 Jahre when the msrp is $102,900.

The other thing they do is register it, drive a few kilometres and sell as a "used" car.

Maximum freight, PDI and fees are established by BMW Canada by Province and are listed on their website, so its possible to call out a dealer that charges excessive fees. But as Parabolica mentions, the trick often used is to "sell" it to a "friend" and then advertise it as used. Porsche dealers are particularly notorious for this around here.

That's not true at all, whatever listed on their website is the minimum of what the dealers will charge in that province. BMW Canada does not govern what dealer charges for freight and pdi. Also, dealers are free to add on whatever fees they like.

That's interesting. In all the new cars I have purchased, I never came across a dealer that charged my the full extent of the "recommended" retail administration fees. The BMW.CA site even specifies "up to", implying it is a maximum. I actually got it waived for most of my purchase without even me asking. As for freight and PDI, it is also expressly listed. Maybe laws are different in Quebec ...

Administration fee along with msrp is governed by the government. I know for a fact that you would have a very very hard time trying to find a dealer charging less than $3k for freight and pdi out here in BC or AB. Dealers also like to add fees like gas, floor mats, wheel locks and so on.

Anyways, I am going to end it here with this topic. So take it or leave it.

Is it just me or did it not seem like the best launch? And the bog after first? Interesting nonetheless!

Why would you say that ?

I find it actually launched quite well. It hooked quickly in 1st gear with little wheel spin and only dropped 1500RPM when it hooked. 2nd went in with very little wheel spin.

Yep. The old " friend of the dealer " trick.

Some dude gets to drive it 300 miles and then they put it back on the lot and call it used.

This car is Epic. The only downsides are the facts that it took too long to see light and that BMW is too greedy with its price position.

To me, the competition pack should have been the base car (with trim variations), CS should have been competition version and the GTS would have crowned the range as the limited edition track focused version.

This would have given the coupe a distinct difference to saloon version which have added street cred to sports car positioning that BMW wants it customers to perceive.

Yes. The same 763M wheel/tire package can be purchased as M-Performance parts, albeit in matte black and not in orbit grey like on the CS.
