Hybrid Charger System for S55 M3/M4 and M2C

This is very interesting and could be a game changer for people looking to further upgrade their S55.

"The system consists of a combined compressor and biturbo charging, with the compressor connected upstream from the OEM turbochargers. This system pre-compresses the air before it enters the turbochargers resulting in higher boost pressures, reducing turbo lag, and also improving throttle and engine response."

This sounds like fun.

Ehhhhhh same results as just upgrading turbos. Not sure I see the value add.

So in layman's terms it's a supercharger kit.

For those that have been in the scene for some time, Infinitas is widely known by their former name: G-Power.

Am I missing something here. $11k for the entry level kit that makes basically the same power as a stage 2 93 tune and reduces the lag on the stock turbos that nobody ever had a problem with? I'm scared to see what their higher end kits will cost…

I did this with a R53 Mini Cooper S with a supercharger (came stock) and turbo. It was called a twincharger back then and made a decent amount of additional power. In the end, the better plan for making more power meant just pulling out the supercharger and going with a turbo. You then cut out the parasitic drag of the supercharger and cut down on the complexity of the system.

Sorry for thread jacking, hay Soul, I have been thinking of getting a 2011 or new cooper s, for a daily drive. 2011 and up, because of the turbo. Do they make good daily drives, or any inputs will be highly appreciated. Thanks

I just thought it was interesting. There must be a catch because if you could just upgrade your turbos, why offer this kit.

One catch is that superchargers are parasitic - they draw power from the engine to operate. At $11K installed, there is not a lot of return for the cash outlay compared to upgraded turbos.

You're smart to keep the choices to 2011+ as it's got the n18 instead of horrendous n14. They're really fun daily drivers, and a lot more entertaining than more plebian equivalents, but expect to have BMW style reliability and maintenance. The short wheelbase makes them feel like go carts and with a manual are engaging to drive. I am not as well versed with the R56's. as I've had a bunch of R53's (still own a GP1), but if you wanted to go a older, 2005, 2006 R53's are an absolute hoot to drive (more raw that r56), and if you can get a lower mileage one, could be a fun and reliable DD. Good luck!

The reason for this kit is to basically get rid of turbo lag. With the stock turbos this kit would be pointless, but when running larger turbos it could be beneficial because the supercharger will pressurize the air before the turbos, thus making it easier for the turbos to spool up and make the boost target because the air is already at a significantly higher pressure then ambient pressure.

Sounds to me like they took Audi's SQ7/RS5 idea/concept from 2016 and applied it here except they use a belt driven blower to turbo inlet instead of an electric blower dumping at cooler. Its aight.
