I didn't. I was hoping for a good replacement. It's a bit disappointing to say the least.
The search continues.

I actually think the new generation looks good. The new M4 looks better than the old M4 that’s for sure. The rear of the F82 never looked right to me. The E92 was gorgeous and I was turned off when the F82 debuted. The F80 though was a drastic improvement over the E90. The G80 is good evolution of the F80 and I may pick one up when they facelift it in the next couple years.

There are literally folks who buy an under warranty f80 and throw 2-3k at “fixing” a crank hub with a super low failure rate on well modified models.
You don’t think every BMW vendor ever isn’t thinking about what 2-3k will buy in terms of a modified front end ? I like the side and rear. I like the engine. I like most of the rest. Why would an easy to modify part like the front end be a show stopper ? Just give it a year. |

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1226184 The new modular engines has a sprocket that is integral to the crank. That is why there is no crank hub issues on the B58.

Unpopular opinion, I think the G80 looks great. The renders made it look pretty rough but after seeing proper pictures and videos my views completely changed. Still disappointed with the manual only being offered in the lower spec but at least they still offer it compared to most of the competing brands nowadays. I have many plans for my F80 and don’t see a G80 in my future but I am excited to take them to gapplebees whenever they’re on the streets

My buddy's X3m on e30 tune (600WHP/600 torque) runs high 10s consistently. It will take a custom e85 tuned f80 with the right track condition to even hit 10s.

No smiling for me. I was hoping for a great successor to the F8X to replace my car with. I now will be moving to another brand when that time comes, forgoing that great combo of daily practicality and track focus that has kept me coming back to the M3/4 for 20 years. Feeling sad and frustrated that BMW "let me down"...

M2C and M2cs would both be a downgrade to my M4cs, so what's the point. I am presently looking at a 992 turbo. If I move away from BMW, might as well make it worth it. I would love a GT 911, but too compromised as DD; I need the 4-seats to schlep the kiddies and minimum comfort (I have 3 close friends that own GT3/GT3RS, all 3 said they would never DD them).

You mean 991.2 or 992 GTS?
I would only go for a 992, I have enough vanity to want the shiniest new toy . But yes, I might consider the 992GTS (in RWD) when they release the specs. Might save a few bucks going that route, but those 579 horses of the turbo sure are tempting .

After seeing the G8x, I am 100% certain I'm keeping my F80 forever and ever. G8x is the ugliest car I've seen, even worse than the X7 when it was first revealed.

You may not be wrong, but by the time they have proper aftermarket support I should have gapped plenty of them since I will not dare give them a fair race. I will be as far from stock as possible and I will take as many videos as possible. Then I will gladly never race them again to avoid embarrassing myself

Definitely keeping my F80 longer now. The only hope BMW has of keeping me in the brand is the G87 M2. However, if the design trend infects that model, off to another brand.
That's also if the toxic censorship that has become this community does not sour me forever. |
