I'm thinking only way to add this would be flash whatever module or modules are responsible to the euro software versions that remember the settings.

Parallel parking when you want to use top down so as not to curb a rim is quite annoying, even with the touch screen.

Are you referring to https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=23841139 or is there something else to try?

I also used NCD/CAFD Tool to analyze differences between US and ECE settings across all ECUs. I tried coding any settings that weren't obvious, but haven't found any that worked, so gave up.

Yes.
I had a chance to test this setting today (changed from 01/aktiv to 00/nicht_aktiv) and confirmed that this changes the camera overlay to an older version (straighter grid). It does NOT affect camera switching behavior, i.e. it continues to revert to rear camera view when shifting into reverse.

00 is not the setting I suggested.

I tried FF as well and it behaves the same way as 01.

What about somehow coding in split screen like on the 2019 3 series. Has rear view on left and surround view on right. Possible on an 18?

that would be great, had that on my 2016 750xi, loved that both views were together.

should be possible, as currently i see the sensor view on left and rear camera on right, this is the default view as soon as u put the car in reverse. would be nice if the top view could replace the sensor view.

This is still the most annoying thing about the car. Any thought on whether we could put together a bounty for someone who delivers a fix?

Definitely, I’ll match $100 (to the first person, not to everyone who discovers it). That would be $100 very well spent.

I'll match 50, so in total $250 for now. First person who finds a solution gets it.

I've gotten used to just touching the screen at this point. It's frustrating but I do it reflexively at this point.

Not worth 100, but I prefer it to what I was doing before. Thanks!

Just got a 2020 and it defaults to the reverse camera instead of the bird's eye like my 2016. I would be willing to try values to test and / or toss in to that bounty.
