Yeh with the CDV, fluid flow is restricted in both directions so the pedal can feel spongy/disconnected as the fluid pressure builds up before the CDV and results in inconsistent clutch engagement. It really forced me to shift with a certain tempo for it not to fight me.

Just wanted to share some pics. Mine is 20mm lower and 30% throw reduction. I do have a taller weighted knob so I requested a larger drop in height. For those thinking of sticking to a non-weighted knob, I wouldn't go beyond 20-25% in throw reduction as it requires much more force and notchy. Though a weighted knob can alleviate the notchiness.

knob is a Raceseng Cylix, weighs 453 grams.

Did you just get yours? I'm at 25% and the notchiness went away after ~1k miles. Its smoother now that it is a broken in.

I installed it earlier this year but I've only driven the car a few times post install.

I just received my AutoSolutions SSK in the mail today and started calling local shops for install quotes.
I live in NJ, and I called Rogue as well as another shop.

Both shops questioned my decision to go with AutoSolutions and wouldn't quote me! Rogue was the preferred one in both instances.

I guess I shouldn't be that surprised that Rogue did that, but it was very annoying nonetheless.

That is definitely annoying. Autosolutions is by far the preferred solution, you can find polls going back to the middle ages on this topic

There is nothing wrong with the Rogue shifter but it's not even close to Auto Solutions shifter. My assumption is those shops don't know anything about the Auto Solutions shifters. My shop knew nothing about it as well, but still installed it.

You made the right choice in shifters and if a shop doesn't want to install it I'd question the shop, especially if they are a "BMW shop".

I got the AutoSolutions SSK installed today, as well as removing the CDV valve.

My SSK was 24% overall reduction Ratio including OEM height-10mm.
I also got the 80A front bushing upgrade.

The shifter is very tight, with almost no play. It almost feels like a gated manual transmission now.

Currently, shifting effort is a bit too increased for my liking, if I'm going to be honest. I did notice irunalot mention that the setup does break in a little bit with time. I'm hoping that it will, and that I didn't go too aggressive with my setup.

Is the M-Performance shifter weighted? I've always liked that one, and if so, I may also want to get it now to assist with shift effort.

Which one? I believe there's two. One that lights up and one that doesn't. The one without light doesn't seem any heavier than oem. I believe the one that lights up is a little heavier than oem but not by much.

While I'm trapped at home with covid I can finally take the opportunity to express my happiness with AutoSolutions kit. I had installed in April and it is handsdown the best mod dollar for dollar. Driving is fun again. I'm like an excited child rowing through the gears. Gone is the sensation of stirring a can of paint. The lever feels purposeful like it should.

The ordering process was fun. Ronald, the guy that makes these, is one passionate dude. He can talk for hours about shifting and levers. It's pretty rare these days to be able to buy a product directly from the person that engineered and manufactured it (in 'Merica too).

+1. I love how my car drives now. I did 18 pct reduction at OEM height.

Get the adj. rear toe links too and it really transforms the experience.

RRT does great work from what I hear, but i'd personally not use them. Their labor rate is very high even for NoVa

I unfortunately do not have any recommendations. I do my own work. You could try ptuning in Manassas?

My AutoSolutions SSK cost $534 out the door. Install was $400.
If you can negotiate them down to $1,000 for parts and labor, it's still high, but not insanely egregious.

Good luck.

I try to do my own too, but I don’t have a lift or even 4 jack stands for this car. How difficult was the install? I haven’t come across a good DIY yet.
