I DD mine. My commute is 35min one way and I miss it a lot, but I can't spend 8h wearing a mask in the office. Need to swap wheels for the winter though.

Got a 3 year old that the previous owner decided to garage queen and only had 4K on it...oddly I'm thankful for that. I'm not a believer in keeping cars low mileage for others...

It's got its rock chips, it's scratch, and so on. But a car is a tool that is meant to be used, no matter if it's a Chevrolet Aveo or a Bugatti.

I spent all this damn money on this car, I'm going to use it to its full potential.

I believe in enjoying your purchase and not saving it for the next owner. I've had mine for 4.5 years I think and have been DD'ing it 70ish miles a day since purchase. Ran an NSX to 150k prior to selling it and plan the same with the M4.

short answer: money

more money = upgrading to a better car sooner. I've put 7k miles in 3 years. I think i've 'experienced' the car. If i drove it to work i'd probably have 70k miles on it by now and eaten a significant chunk of depreciation.

I have a winter car. I drive the M4 whenever I can. I don't commute to work, and when I did it was less than 5 miles from my house when I lived in NY. I have ~15k miles on it and I've had it 2.5 years.

I like that the M4 is somewhat understated relative to an American muscle car or a Porsche. I know from reading the forums that many get M4/M3 because of their family/kid situation, or affordability.

I like the power/handling of the M4. I don't have kids, and I can afford to drive anything I'd like (although I'm just not going to spend 100k or more on a car).

I don't worry about turning in a lease or trading in a car with too few miles. I just bought two cars off lease (my wife's GLE43 AMG, and my winter car, BMW X2) because the car buying climate right now sucks and we aren't driving that much anyway. The lease on the M4 is up in June I think, and I'll likely buy it out.

I'll trade the cars in when my wife or I wants something new. I like leasing the cars initially because it transfers the financial risk to the bank while the car is in it's most vulnerable state depreciation-wise. I think the cost is well worth it if you have a collision situation where the car isn't totaled to be able to give it back and not take the diminished value hit.

I know this is a long answer, but wanted to provide in depth perspective because I was bored this morning.

Well, it is official, BMW to phase out fossil-fuel burning engines from its main plant by 2024. I wonder if that will change people's answers here.

I should start a post asking whether we will part with our gas guzzling, throaty raspy M4s for a quite 1200hp electric M4- modded, of course! I certainly want to see that ugly Telsa plaid destroyed by an M electric. My neighbor will be happy if I switch to all electric, but I will still have my 80s sport bikes that sound lovely on cold starts with Muzzy exhausts - oh, and the smell of carbs!

Okay, back to the original question/post!

I believe they are just moving the plants they are manufactured in...not ditching the combustion engine (yet). The M3/4 engines were not manufactured at that facility in Germany they are moving from.

Unlike Audi, which has stated there will be no new development in the ICE, BMW has not made that comment yet (that I'm aware of). I'm sure though, the days are limited.

I try to drive mine at least 3x a week, I daily my MCS. With LA traffic, I feel like traffic miles are wasted miles.

I drive my M3 when I want to drive it. Those days of trying to impress are long gone and I drive my car when it is fun and worth the effort. It is nice to be able to decide to take the beater to work because it just isn't the day. I hope everyone here drives their machines to the fullest and gets that "Ultimate Driving Machine" experience.

Drive safe and make sure to smile when you climb into your M car. I know I do.

Love "dailying" mine - my commute is nil (1.5mi) so I usually just walk but I put on easily 8-10k a year in just fun driving miles. I just can't imagine paying for a car that I'm not enjoying.

I daily drive mine I bought it used in June as a daily and love driving it everyday. My commute isn't too bad, but I have taken it on a 6 hour trip so I have put about 4K miles on it. The car came from a state with a front plate and the PO was kind enough to drill the plate into the bumper ha, so not to worried about rock chips as that will need to be fixed eventually. I will have the roof ceramic coated for the UV protection on the carbon to prevent yellowing and scrapes.

I do intend on getting a truck towards the end of next year for the winter time as well for other hobby's (hunting/ winter sports).

I wonder who well it would go over to start a post to post pictures of your hunt and your M4 - I don't mean going to the hunt, but actually having the animal in the trunk!

I put a Chinese made splitter on my E60 M5 some 10 years ago and I was just about eaten alive by other members! I did recover a 4 point in my E30 M3 - years ago, when you could do whatever you wanted with your M or other cars and there were no forums or the internet! I wish I had taken a picture!

I've got a three bock commute. My daily is a scooter or my 62 Econoline truck. But I take the M3 out every weekend for either a 'spritited drive' or my go to town, bank, Lowes, groceries loop.

I have a 2003 E39 as my daily - great car! - and the fact I have no covered parking at my office, mine stays in the garage most of the time. I average 550 miles a month driving my F83 mostly on weekends and evening runs during the week. I'm not trying to intentionally keep the miles down but this will more than likely be my last M car so I want to keep it in good mechanical and physical condition for the long haul.

I'll never understand people that complain about daily driving these cars, even in stop and go traffic. Put it in comfort mode if you're really having a hard time "dealing" with it?

It's really not that difficult or uncomfortable. If you can't handle these cars in traffic, I have no idea how you managed to overcome the adversity of putting shoes on every morning.

I work at a place in a small shopping center. I have witnessed enough shit in there not to take my car to work.
