Any Exhaust Flap Controls Besides Awron?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I like the idea of controlling the exhaust flaps from within the cabin (Factory control/Always open/Always closed,) but I'd rather not spend a grand on the Awron, as I won't be using that for much else.

Does anyone know of a standalone unit in existence, or in development?

If that's the only way, then that's the only way. Might still be worth it...

I can imagine it pretty easy to wire it up to a switch or something, however finding the wires inside the cabin and even running wires to the switches will be difficult.

An Awron standalone option is coming very soon, we will be releasing details in a separate thread when ready.

For an on/off switch, I'm hoping under $100

No sir, this will be an integrated solution using the steering wheel controls.

The N54 and N55 JB4 models have this feature and they will add it to the S55 JB4 when they get around to it.

Our VSC-1 controller for the F30/F32 does exactly what you are wanting. You can check the details at www.cgprecision.com.

Our controller allows you to open and close the valve anytime. We include two remote controls so you can operate the valve from greater than 50' away (if you wanted).

The electronic valve motor was first introduced on the F30 and the same type of motor is now used on the f80/f82. We have already developed the control method for this type of motor, so we are positive that our VSC-1 controller will work on the F80/F82, but we do need a test vehicle to finalize our specific mounting and fitment details for this platform.

With that said, anyone want to loan their F80/F82 for a few hours?

PM me for details.

If you're positive it'll work why not just send the units to someone to plug in and try?

And how's it going to work for F8X since we have two separate valves?

0-100 real quick,

I can see how our post was vague in this regard. The electronic valve motor was first introduced on the F30 and the same type of motor is now used on the f80/f82. We have already developed the control method for this type of motor. The new product will have specific mounting and fitment required to operate both valves from the controller for the F80/F82 and we look forward to supporting this platform. Thanks for your questions.

the question is hoch much cost difference do you have between the awron display with valve control or valve control only (which requires some hardware).

I have installed the awron on the weekend and it is a pretty cool tool - it is really worth the money and I would prefer to spend a little bit more money to have the complete display.

For later tuning it also includes the delete-R function! no need to get another module.

I dont believe the valve control firmware is available here in the states yet. However if the display and the module are close to the same price then no doubt would opt for the display set up. However I have a feeling the stand alone and the display will be a large price difference but we will see!

Does this unit keep the ability to retain the factory control-system as an option?
( Always Open/Always Closed/Factory Default ?)

Our standard product for the f22/f30/f32 is default open, actuated closed. We have found this to be the most desired functionality because it is very simple to operate and provides the most sound improvement compared with the factory control. We offer the option to chose any default setting (open, closed or factory) and any actuated setting at the time of ordering. The default setting is the one that the unit will use upon start-up unless you press the button on the remote. With that said, most customers are purchasing this to alter the behavior of the valve not keep it the same as factory, and they opt for our standard setting. With the standard configuration, if you want to go back to factory for a while you can leave the controller installed on the motor but plug in the factory control to the valve motor. We plan to offer the same functionality for the f80/f82 platform but of course welcome your feedback.

Is there any difference between manually controlling the valve vs just putting throttle resposne to sport or sport+? Not being facetious, just seeing if there was any benefit to manually controlling it. Only thing I can think of is if you didn't want the more sensitive throttle response AND still wanted the valves open.

I actually had the very same thought as you ----- I assumed the valves opened right away when in sport+ but that's not the case. I found that it seems like the valve isn't consistent in sport+, meaning sometimes downshifts sound louder than other times so not sure when valves are actually opened.

I did the unplug mod but it's too loud on cold start. It sounds MUCH better in low RPMs with valve open. All I would want is to start car with valves closed and as soon as I leave my complex open them up.
