Help with fitting Remus Exhaust Flap Motors Please
Hi all.
I'm after a bit of help on fitting the Remus exhaust if anyone has any experience they can offer? I bought the exhaust second hand and we have tried to fit it this morning. The issue I'm having is with is with transferring the flap motors across from the O/E BMW Exhaust. I've removed the parts and there is a small metal cylinder part that sits between the motor and the flap. The BMW one doesn't fit into the housing on the Remus back box. I'm guessing that I'm missing a similar Remus part that sits between the motor and the flap but can anyone confirm for me please? |

You won't be reusing the parts you removed from your old exhaust, the REMUS uses clips that go from the exhaust to the actuator.
Assuming you don't have those? It looks like this: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-milltek-...mwvalclip~mll/ |

See attached install instructions from Remus.
Looks like you have all the right parts except the spring? The plastic bush has a lip and to slide down at opening and should rotate to lock (same way you removed them from stock). Were the flaps open when you removed from stock exhaust, if not that could be the problem? |

Same thing happened to me, after buying my REMUS used. Guessing the shop that put the seller's stock exhaust back on just omitted the Remus adapters.
I went through this with Mike at Remus. He made me buy the whole hardware kit, which sucked because I only needed the two little adapters... took nearly two weeks because the first "kit" he sent had everything except those adapters. Anyways, here is a picture of what you need. Adapters on the left, ignore the spacers on the right.

Mike @ Remus charged me $100.
The kit comes with those adapters, clamps, adapters, spacers, hangers... I now have a box of extra shit I don't need. Side note: You will have to go through a vendor. Maybe Mike @ XPH can do better than $100... or maybe free like we (Mike @ Remus) thought it was originally going to be.

It's easy to lose such small parts if the garage is not familiar with the Remus Exhaust system. Thanks everyone for your input. I will let you know as soon as I get it sorted. |

Similar problem
New to the forum and have the same problem with a second hand Remus exhaust with no adaptors. Did you source the adaptors ok within the UK?

I had the same problem. Remus USA provides an out dated parts list and Instructions but they do provide an alternative swivel spring that works. See attached photos.

Thansk TypeDre for posting this. I wish I read your post before I didn't my install last weekend. Took me like 30 mins to figure out what the F is wrong with the instruction and the wrong parts that were provided. Remus resellers need to give their customers updated instruction if Remus can't do it right.

I know this thread is over a year old now, but does anyone know if the stock plastic part, spring, and cylinder can be purchased separately? I haven’t been able to find a listing for them, or p/n.

Not that anyone cares(and I don’t blame you) but I ended up using for the spacer; a socket with a roll pin ground down to fit the slot in the flapper motor, pressed into the drive end of the socket. I welded a flanged nut onto the valve on the exhaust (aligned closed w/motor also fully closed). Worked great and has held up well so far.
Yes I could’ve just bought the parts used but after contacting 5 people with no luck I decided to do it my way. |
