Bimmerlink to control exhaust valves

I just got my AWE switchpath installed...I dont want to unplug the valves as it defeats the whole purpose of the switchpath..but i was wondering do people still use bimmerlink to control the valves?

I know i can buy the burger tuning flap controller but thats another $300+ install $$ i dont want to spend..

I was reading an old thread that you can spend $30 on the bimmerlink app and $30 on the Carista OBD port and be able to control the valves via your phone...

Anyone still do this?

edit; and does anyone have a link for the OBD agent I would need to buy?

thanks!

i could be wrong but i thought i read somewhere here that the app based solution for the exhaust valves is only temporary? Users said after driving for awhile the car reverts back to how the valves work stock.

i had the cg precision vsc-2 controller that I linked up to my homelink but that's an added cost that i think you're trying to avoid

I read that you have to go to the APP every time and open the valves..which isnt a big deal to me.

But i also read that the newer bluetooth agent saves ur preferences..not sure

but i did find a video

Great find, that would be the easiest solution
Actually, cheapest as well only second to
Just unplugging your valve plugs!
Would any bluetooth obd port work?

What i remember reading was even if you go into the app when you first drive the car after a certain amount of time of driving the app loses control over the flaps and you have to go back into it and press it again.... I could be wrong but you might want to look into it.

Ah your right. I think i did read that either the bluetooth port or the APP times out and then the flaps close up.

Maybe someone can chime in on this

I just unplugged the valves yesterday. Best decision I ever made. The car should sound like this stock without the valves opening and closing. Just my thoughts.

The cg valve controller is still the best option for valve over ride control

Doesn't occupy the obd port, and you can put the small wireless remote anywhere you find handy - mine is stuck down inside centre console ashtray (under hvac)

You can also set it up to default valve open on start up if you want

I have it and commented before it’s a waste of money. Not even worth the time explaining why it sucks. BM3 was the better investment for valve control or unplugging flaps if you value warranty.

This is prob the least expensive solution, followed by the BMS unit which is great and does other things as well (like disable active sound).

OP I would just take the plunge and invest in a proper valve control unit. The ability to open/close on demand is great and both the VSC2 and BMS unit hold value well so you will recoup most of the cost if/when you want to get rid of it.

I unplugged mine and I feel like it is still way too quiet for me

I think I need downpipes.

do not fiddle with the APP believe me...I even find the BMS Can flap intrusive

but in all seriousness shell out the cash for the can flap its worth it. provides useful coding.
and no installation.

You can score some great deals on the MS EVC on the member classifieds. But bite quick and don't lowball. they go quick.

I didn't realize...i searched through the mobile app which wasn't completely obvious to me.

I was previously controlling through the Can Flap, which I loved because it was super easy, but the app seems to offer some other bells and whistles I liked in addition to...thought about an OBD splitter if there's such a thing...but I'm not that fancy.
