new m4 owner (2015 F82) question about connected drive
Hello all
i just recently purchased and got my love 2015 M4 convertible (F82) delivered few days ago. I can tell that the connected drive and real time traffic info etcs subscriptions are expired. I signed up and downloaded ios app for the BMW connected; I am having trouble sending direction from the bmw connected app to my car navigation. It gives me this error I have my phone (iphone X) connected thru Bluetooth and i can listen to music make calls, contacts are synced etcs. I tried reconnecting BT as a new device (erasing it from both phone/car) I tried connecting via USB cable (under arm rest console) neither seems to work does this seem to have anything to do with older firm ware version? mine says MN-003.003.001 for media and TN-003.003.001 this is what i have and i cannot seem to update from bmw website (as my version is more new than the available ones online) i am just not sure if this is normal (that i can't send directions from my phone to car after subscription is over) or if somethings wrong with my car. You said that the ConnectedDrive subscription is expired. Did you renew it? If you don't have a current ConnectedDrive subscription, I'm pretty sure you won't be able to do anything with ConnectDrive, including sending directions to your car.

Connecting the phone to the car won't have anything to do with connected drive and sending destinations. For example try sending a destination from the connected drive website to your car. Then view the messages in your car. No phone needed at all. You can also do this from maps.google.com on a PC. Long hold press on a number button on the command bar when you getting to connected messages is one of the first things I did too to quickly get to my sent destinations.

That is no error.
ConnectedDrive changed the Send to Car feature sometime this year - now there is only one way to send an address to your car from the app, but it performs two things at the same time: a) It sends a message to your iDrive via cellular data b) if you connect the phone in your car then address automatically is transferred from phone to your Nav via USB. That is exactly what that screen that you posted is telling you to do. At least the USB transfer must be working in your car. For the cellular message, contact Assist. Quote:

I have the same car and the same problem! Your screen shot does not actually show the error though.
For me, I pull up an address in the app and there is a "Send to car" (or similar button). When I press it, it tells me to connect the phone to the car in order to transfer the navigation to the car. But when I connect via USB, nothing happens. The message can be sent to the car and I can browse to it to begin navigation, but it would be a lot nicer to have it take over when plugging it in (since I'm going to plug it in to charge anyway) and avoid having to go through the menus to get to the message. |
