Because VTT does not answer their service shop phone...

but on a serious note, I'm certain they'll be able to do the install for a very reasonable price.

They're not allowed to disclose pricing here per forum rules, but they're quite responsive via sales@vargasturbo.com

Cost of labor is very reasonable as expected, especially for the CBC only install.

Nars3000 nailed it. f80post doesn't allow pricing discussion, which I think is probably intended to keep things cleaner. Email is always fastest!

Any suggestion for tools. Looks like a thin air ratchet would help with the bolts.

A thin ratchet is not really needed. My torque wrench fit up there just fine. A couple of short 3/8" drive adapters will be helpful.

Where did you get the torque spec of the 8 bolts that come with the CBC? The reason I'm asking is because of this German video. Those guys seem to use the oem bolts but torque them to 20 Nm plus 90 degree turn according to their product page here.

Vargas recommends tightening their supplied bolts to 25 lbs. I used some thread lock as well.

Page 5 of the Vargas Spline Lock install guide specifies 25ft/lbs for the Crank Bolt Capture bolts.

Hey Rotzy I was reading on VTT's product page that it says that in some rare cases the capture doesn't line up with the bolt and the holes and you have to "Stretch" the crank bolt or put in a new one..

Does stretch mean torque more? I imagine putting a new one in means u now have to re time the engine no?

The capture can be turned 6 times and the holes are slotted, I think you'll be fine with it lining up.

I read this too and I was a bit worried that I'd be the unlucky one who's capture didn't line up, but mine fit fine. If for some reason it doesn't line up by rotating the CBC into one of the 6 positions, you can always elongate some of the 8 slots to make it work. It is made of aluminum so it is soft and would be easy to drill. I would absolutely not touch the crank bolt. Without the proper timing tools to lock down the cam/crank, you probably wouldn't be able to turn the crank bolt anyway.

Thanks for this. This gives me confidence to tackle this on my own. Not sure if my gangly hands have the dexterity to fit in the space between the CH and the radiator. Did you find it difficult?

I have larger hands than anyone I’ve ever met, and it wasn’t bad. With the fan assembly out, you have ~5 inches between the crank pulley and the radiator.

The friend helping me had fairly large hands and he was able to maneuver just fine with the fan repositioned (although he is a technician for a major car manufacturer). With the fan out, you would have no problem.

Awesome. Thanks for the comments in your thread. It's always good to get more information from others who have done the install.

Question for you: you mentioned 2 rubber shields on the bottom of the fan? Do you have any pictures? I am happy to add them to the write-up with a note about the M2 Comp being different.

Unfortunately no clear photos but below is the parts in the etk. They are easily removable with a bit of wiggle. Just held with some torx bolts.

Thanks.

I've added your installation information (with credit given to you, of course) to my original post.
