I apologize for a likely dumb question, but which flex fuel kit did you get from Bend:

BMW F8x universal kit ($345)

Or

Basic BM3 kit ($575)

I already have the BM3 license but I'm not sure what system to get.

I went with the ultimate list and did the fuel filter too.

https://www.bendcalibration.com/shop/p/f8x-ultimate

Also, a few videos show the wires being tapped under the hood but I went to the passenger side footwell. If you go that route, the provided wire harness is too short and you will need to extend the wires.

Pretty easy install.

I want to check some logs just for informational reasons, what parameters should I log ? I'm new to the platform so I want to familiarize myself with what's normal and what isn't normal.

Yeah it just takes a bit longer if you have the original rom type on your car. But if you've already got CustomROM on there, then it's as fast as ever

Just did it for a friends m3 today. Flashed with iPhone. Bend Calibration’s ultimate flex fuel kit installed.

Did 3 runs on our local heartbreak Mustang dyno,

ARM resonated downpipes
SSR intake
MPE exhaust
OEM flex fuel plugs gapped 0.024”

We flashed the stage 2 multimap

Run 1: pump gas (93 equivalent)
386whp/ 587tq

Run 2: E27
403whp/ 606tq

Run 3: E53
420whp/ 631tq

I suggest not looking at the absolute figures as they won’t compare to your local dynojet, but rather take away the delta in between different E%

Boost stays the same all 3 runs at 22-23psi, regardless of E%. Ignition advance becomes more aggressive with more E.

Dyno graph showing pump gas vs E53

So I completely forgot about virtual dyno, and entered my Stage 2 ACN91 log into the program to come out with an estimated 485whp/567tq. I'm not concerned with the number but I do want something to compare an E30 or even full E85 tune down the line. I also attached the log for the pull.
Pull was done in third gear.

If I haven’t logged in a long while I just go into the About screen and click on Reset Settings. This way all the latest logging stuff gets into my account. For example now I have tons more logging parameters than I used to have before a few months back. Guys always keep adding more and more stuff out there. I’ve also been playing with blending methanol in the tank which the flex fuel sensor picks up. Its working out beautifully with the new multimaps although I think there’s more in it given its methanol and not ethanol.

I heard from F80P to watch close when swapping in Methanol fueling since it drinks so much. Watch out for running lean or fuel trims maxing out.

Thanks for this! I saw the timing multiplier tables for the OTS maps and above e70 is where things get a bit more aggressive. I just logged the 93 OTS and I am almost ready to fill with full e85 so I can log that. I'd be interested to see the e53 vs full e85 to see how much more they added (if any).

Edit*** Interesting I just looked over your logs vs my straight 93 log. I am seeing 14.5° timing vs 10° on your e53 log. Your 93 logs seem to be pretty low as well. But your boost pressure is 4# higher on all logs. Just an observation but seems strange.

yeah that's very interesting. unless there's some other parameters built into the calibration that affects timing advance other than just fueling. not sure if heat is a factor. Car was run on a dyno with small fans, and ambient temps around 30+c (90+F).

in your logs it's looking like boost is being pulled at higher rpms and then timing advanced even further to make the power. Strange that both these OTS maps have differing strategies

Here is an e72 log from a guy I have been talking to about OTS maps and logging. He has same actual boost but lower timing. Looks like I need to do some digging....

" Ran a couple logs at e72 today, any idea how these look? I see there is some timing differences between cylinders and the HPFP is not reaching the target..."

Valet mode can be had with custom tuning. Currently running a multimap setup with:

Slot 1 - full E85
Slot 2 - 93oct
Slot 3 - E85 valet
Slot 4 - 93 valet

Other option is using bm3 settings to cut boost in all gears. But, that would require flashing the car back and forth, rather than being able to switch on the fly.

Not really sure how to answer that since it was a custom tune I purchased and the details are locked from being accessed.

But here are a couple of logs to compare how significantly the performance is cut back compared to the last pull I logged with the regular 93 map.
(One caveat - the non-valet 93 log is from over a year ago since I have pretty much been running constant E85 now that a station was put up right down from the house. There were a few revisions made to the updated map that got included in my multi-map customROM, I just haven't taken time to log pulls with it.)

I love the Valet log! Pedal floored in 3rd and at 4400RPM the Boost Target is just under 5PSI and the Torque Target is only 150ft/lb.
That's going nowhere fast.

Haha! No kidding. I knew it would be dialed back, but didn’t realize how awesome it would work.
I refer to it as “Wife Mode” around the house. Doesn’t get as excited of a response.

Hey TideMD who did your tune? does you slot 1 vs 2 just vary timing or does it boost when on slot1?

I’m about to pickup the Bendcalibration kit and curious why you went through the passenger side? To extend the harness what wires are needed?
