BLuex - great write up. I read most of it while I was on my trip and just now revisited the whole thread. Nice documentation of the trip and the feelings of the experience.
I have to agree that my favorite part of SO is the different moods of the color depending on the light. And I agree that I like it better on the M3 than the M4 for some reason, and also I also noted that the dirt doesn't show up as much on SO as I expected. Do you have a ship yet?

In regards to your question about if mine is on a ship, check out the thread "Toscana!" I've been tracking it religiously......stalking more like. My car will be at the port/vpc on Friday! And yes, I love SO on the F80. My wife would laugh because everyplace we stopped I'd just stop and stare at it. Such a multifaceted color.

Use the add layer function. Then it caps of at 10 locations per layer and I think a total of max 10 layers.

Well as an update, she has finally made it stateside and back to the dealership!
From drop off in Munich, to the dealership here, it just took 1 month and 3 days. I don't think I could have possibly asked for a quicker re-delivery. From seeing the pics of the car right off the transport (except with the wrapping taken off), it looks like the 40 EU wash and wax offered by LogInOut was an excellent choice. The car looks pristine. I would absolutely go this route again for my next ED. I'll post more pics once I take re-delivery, but here are the pics my CA sent me as soon as they took the wrapping off. This ED journey is finally coming to an end

Great thread, can't wait to create my own in a couple of months. She sure is a beauty. Nice to know there is another SO in the area. Enjoy!

Just a few minor notes after my stateside delivery:
I finally picked up my car for stateside delivery on Saturday. No additional pics at the moment, unfortunately, there just wasn't enough time....dealership closed at 5, and car wasn't ready till about 5:30. Car was pristine....perfect. Not a mark on her from ED all the way back home. Dealership badge WAS on the car, despite my specific instructions, but I didn't say anything.....was easily enough removed at home. Peeled right off. No glue residue. No need to make a big deal over nothing really. Munich emissions sticker still on windshield.....leaving it on. Kinda cool reminder, plus I hear it's a pain to remove. Car had an additional 11 miles on it from drop off in Munich to dealership. I think 11 miles is a bit much, but I've heard much worse, and certainly no need to stress it. Plus what can you do? No telling where she picked em up. Warning triangle mount WAS removed at vpc. The triangle fits snugly in cargo net with med kit though. I'll eventually get the Euro mount. Shame they took that out.....but yet the left the package of bug wipes I bought at a convenience store/gas station about an hour south of Munich, and stored in the glove box. Yeah, that makes sense. Car maintained all my profile settings stored on the key I took home with me. From equalizer, seat settings, display settings, to M settings. I am officially a victim of the tin can screech brake shield club! Didn't do it once in Germany but has done it a few times here. It's brief, like a millisecond loud sound and then you don't hear it again. Not every trip, but like every other. PA crappy roads with lots of pebbles. It's something I'll mention but not a huge deal. If it did it the entire time that would be a diff story. All the techs at delivery were literally crowded around the car.....you'd think it was the first SO M3 they had ever seen. My 9 year old daughter was instantly jealous. Went inside pouting that I was paying more attention to the M than her.....lol. I took her for a ride and that changed her mind....fast. She loved the speed. Btw, yes.....in love with the car all over again. Oh and on the way home a deer leaps right out in front of me.....just missed it. Lol. SO is a dangerous color, they say...... Dealership gave me another full tank of gas. So one from the Welt and one from Ottos.

Final wrap up with this thread, with some pics taken now that the car is back home. I'm at about 1150 miles, so about to get its' first service.
Other than the "pebble in the heat shield" issues, which haven't bothered me since about 5 days ago (when I pushed it back and a few dropped out), the car has been perfect. Some minor intermittent creaking coming from the CF dash trim panels. May let the dealer handle that. All minor stuff. Car has been great though.

Thanks for the closure. Nice looking ride! Are you going to do any PPF, Coating, or Tint?

Plan on the blacked front grill, blacked side markers, and body colored reflectors right now. No tint or anything else at this point...... Going for "stealthy stock". I've coded everything the way I want, so i'm good as far as customization that way.....

Awesome congrats on picking the car back up. That was a very fast redelivery! Nice to know it was flawless after traveling that far. The place the car was washed/waxed was a mile away from login out so there are a couple miles right there.

I *finally* got around to reading this entire thread. WOW. Thank you so much, Bluex. I've read many ED journals, but I think this one is the most informative. I'm planning an ED next year with the exact [exterior] spec as you. It will be my first time visiting Europe, so all of the minor details about culture are very much appreciated. I actually took notes!
How many liters of beer did you drink? Haha. Thanks again and enjoy your beautiful beast! |
