Well. To spill the beans a bit - I am selling the exhaust. Getting just an AA midpipe instead. The exhaust did not pass the wife test.
While it’s awesome around town, it’s a bit too much on the highway. It hums or drones at around 65-70 mph. Valves either open or closed. It feels like you’re on a plane. I also like the sound of the stock muffler I realized... |

I'll be honest that every single exhaust video i've heard on this platform I HATED. Every car i've owned up until this point in life had some sort aftermarket exhaust on it except this one. The best sounding exhaust i've heard is the stock ZCP M3 system or the Akra (which sounds somewhat like stock). Ive also listened to a lot of AA mid pipe videos paired with the stock muffler and i'm still on the fence about it. Doesn't sound that much different to me and seems like a good number of people complain about it rattling since its hard to get the fitment just right. This whole civic sound mixed with stupid artificial gun shots (burbles) is one of the dumbest trends in automotive history imo...

I'm interested in getting your thoughts on the quicksilver exhaust setup (mid-pipe + exhaust muffler). There is a video of it's sound too in the link:
https://quicksilverexhausts.store/co...system-2014-18 I'm thinking of getting this.Car is completely stock currently. I would have gone for AA otherwise but not many places stock it here in the U.K (and they charge a premium over US prices). |

It took me a while to realize. I've driven a few M cars with aftermarket exhausts and I realized that I liked the loudness, but not really the sound. The straight-through muffler design does not have the same effect as chambered OEM muffler. That's one of the reasons I'm removing my AA system and just doing the midpipe...that and the drone.

I have the AA midpipe with the stock ZCP muffler, and it is perfect, with zero drone. Basically same as stock ZCP + 30 volume and fantastic roar at full throttle. Zero complaints, and recommend the same to all my friends.
Bonus that I saved more than $2000 va their full exhaust systems that don’t sound as good or perform any better. |

I have to agree guys been telling everyone, but they keep buying full exhaust systems. I first did the AA Midpipe and it was my favorite mod. My only issue, a personal issue at that was that I wanted to hear more interior noise. Now I have downpipes and this combo is the next best thing if you want more noise. Pair it with Alex Alpine Tuned Exhaust tune and you will be in love. I'll try and post some videos up soon.
But I'm not going to lie that was one of the better full exhaust setups I've heard. Personally, I drove a buddies full exhaust F80 from a different make and it seems after market mufflers can't do refinement like the OEM muffler. The interior cabin of my car is much quieter than his, but my car is much louder from the outside due to my downpipes. Goes to show the OEM muffler does a good job quieting things down. JD |
