well, luckily mine got covered under warranty and the part that they replaced was the right vertical accelaration sensor and apparently my service advisor was kinda familiar with the problem. meaning he had a couple of his clients come in with the same problem...

This is right as my left one died front doing so, but even when you do remove they are so finicky the right one died about a month later.

Ok I just got Chassis Restricted msg now while driving in sport + in parking lot speed. My eibachs were installed months back

How do we determine which sensor went bad?

Does it affect EDC?

It locks them in full stiff and they don't work. You can scan it with carley or an obd tool. Dealer warranted mine.

If anyone is looking for the front acceleration sensor I believe I have a brand new extra one. I'll sell it for $35shipped. I think I paid $50. I bought 2 when mine went bad because I didn't know which one or if both were bad. I changed the driver side and it worked so never used the second one.

Got this error on Saturday night at start-up. Earlier that day put on approx 75miles of boring daily driving.

Its a 2018 F80. Production date of 08/2017. Current mileage 15k.
The only mod Ive done thus far has been to unplug the Active Sound module in the trunk.
Havent made it to the track yet.

The error went away today but Im having it checked out on the next service appointment.

Would coding the vertical acceleration sensor out solve all these issues?

Also, what exactly do you give up by coding this out? I’ve read mixed things from nothing to safety/drivability....

I know the aftermarket game may not go as smooth as one may want with these newer cars, but I am baffled that I can’t seem to find an answer for those with coilovers regarding this issue besides “code it out”..

Hi everyone

I use the samilar kit (Megan) had the same problem , after 3 hours we finally found out what cause the problem .check the front sleeve kit on the kw they have this clip where u clip on the oem wires back on , when we pulled the wire out of the clip the light turn off immediately. So I m guessing the clip might be wrong size it’s too tight and it’s pinching the wires to cause the malfunctioning. I can be wrong don’t quote me on this. So now I just widen out the clip and it seems fine , been driving the car for past 3 days . Everything is normal

Hopefully this is helpful for some of you .

Jumping in here as I see I’m not the only one with problems. I have the error codes with chassis restricted after installing KW V3 coilovers along with the EDC cancellation kit. I’m reading that some folks haven’t seen success with replacing the acceleration sensors, so I’d rather not drop another $500 or so on those if they won’t work. Pretty annoying not being able to use the M buttons with this issue. Maybe the best thing to do is just code out the EDC entirely? Not sure how that impacts the vehicle warranty however so I’m hesitant to do it. Sort of stuck for now.

Ah, 3 sensors seem to be out. The replacing of the sensors itself is super easy, but each part with wire is about $140 at FCP euro. I just replaced mine. Since youre running the v3s, it may be advisable just to code out EDC. You should contact a mobile coder like Alex @ Alpine to see what he charges. In terms of the warranty, should your suspension fail, the dealer wont cover it, but should your engine fail, your suspension should have nothing to do with that failure and they shouldn't deny your claim. By just having a mod shouldn't make your entire car's warranty null.

Right got it thanks! I just wasn’t sure if tuning out the EDC would be flagged as something like an engine ECU flash etc. I might just give the sensors a try first but will think on it. Thanks!

Just wanted to say I worked with Alex@Alpine this evening and my code is gone! Alex is incredible, he had everything done in about ten minutes and I know have my M1/M2 buttons back and no chassis error on startup. What a schmuck I was to wait this long, I had no idea how easy it all was. Whatever you do don't waste money on an EDC cancellation kit, just have Alex take care of your car for you. Thank you again so much Alex!!

Thank you as well jpy1980 for the heads up on him, much appreciated!

Nice and good to hear! Enjoy your car in good health!
