Ok. I have driven the car a little. All I can say is that I absolutly love it. The sound is great to my ears. A V8 its not but if I wanted a V8 i would have gotten a different car. I wanted a BMW and I got one.

The transmition is familiar for the most part, if tighter than I expected. Transition from first to second took a little getting used to on a launch but I think I have already figured out want the car wants me to do to make that smoother and it is a simple matter of more gas.

If you have not already done so, spend the $10 on the BMS clutch stop. This is a must have for these cars and is a game changer.

Steering was great too in sport and so was the suspension on my local crap NE roads.

All in all I am very happy and impressed and I am 1100 miles from really being able to let her rid.

Meh, 1200 is not necessary. Give it about 300 miles without redlining but LOTS of short bursts of heavy load. Lots of short drives with full heat cycles. You want all moving parts to heat up/cool down together a bunch of times. This is how you break in a car.

Then at around 300 miles start redlining it sometimes, avoiding long duration of heavy load (like an airstrip run). By 600 hundred it's good to go.

My ZCP is buttery smooth and pulls a LOT harder now at 750 miles than it did when brand new. Also - the brakes have become immensely powerful where new they were somewhat weak to the point that I was disappointed.

YMMV.

I just made the switch also. 16 non zcp to 18 zcp and I am very pleased with the change. I wasn't going to upgrade but the deal I got on an avus blue car with zcp made it really hard to pass up. The burbles on a stock exhaust are kind of meh. Really needs an exhaust to make them more enjoyable. I swapped over my mpe with deleted 2nd cats to the new car and they sound great. The seats are fantastic and almost make it worth it by themselves. The suspension changes are nice but I may end up putting a standard non zcp sway bar on the front. I don't care about the black grills and such but I know alot of people do like them. Overall it's a nice package and I'm glad I made the switch.

coming from a tuned B8.5 S4 with AWD, still getting used to the rear wheel drive and manual transmission. So far is being great, really like my new F80 ZCP, great upgrade. It feels like a real race car compared to my previous car. A lot stiffer even though I lowered the Audi. Driving an awd car you lose driving skills as the car will not make any unpredictable moves, even on the track, the car was on rails. This car is a different animal. After break in (currently have 300 miles), I need to learn how to heel and toe (auto rev disabled in sport + too!) and how to tame this beast when coming in and out of corners.

Thanks everyone. Looks like it seems to be a June/July build issue. Not much i can do other than wait till 1200 mile service. Hopefully that fixes it. Otherwise not sure what my options are.

JULY 3, 2018 F80 ZCP 6MT production

I DO have rev-matching enabled in SPORT PLUS

I have NOT done break in service yet

Went through this thread and looks like July 2018 production and beyond has auto rev-matching in Sport+....

I’m ok with it, I guess...

I FIGURED IT OUT
Auto rev match is now a subscription based service. Probably free for first 3 months or so then $10 a month.

I would love that. I'd cancel it right away. I have a hard time in the other modes.

Mine is prod date June 20 and I do not have rev-matching in Sport+. Seems like this narrow window a change was made.

I was totally not planning to buy a manual transmission when I walked into the dealer (or an F80, for that matter), but they had a Laguna Seca Blue, fully optioned M3 ZCP there and it looked awesome. I was curious about the 6MT having switched to auto (335) and DCT (F82) back in '11, so I gave it a spin. I was really impressed how good it felt and how engaging a manual really is. The last manual I drove was a test drive in a '67 MGB GT. Needless to say, this was much more refined. ;-)

Can't wait to pick up the M3 on Tuesday.
are you in louisville? dealer had a LSB ZCP 6MT wondering if that’s the one you got

I'm in the minority I guess.... I like auto rev match and wish it was enabled in sport +. Mines an April 2018 build.

I guess It should just be an on/off setting. This way everybody is happy.

I appreciate the art of the heel/toe - this is my first manual car that offers auto rev match. Sometimes I like engaging totally. Other times, I just like driving with auto rev match.

Curious to see if this software update is real and if it will be offered by dealers.

I'm in Indianapolis. The dealer said BMW sent them two LSB F80s, one was DCT, one was 6MT. I guess they manufactured a bunch in LSB and sent them around. I got a great deal on it. :-)

Don't worry I think you are still in the majority The anti-rev match people are just the vocal minority. Just ask any of the tuners on here whether they get more requests to add rev match in sport+ or to remove it in all modes.

One of the great satisfaction of driving a manual is to heel-toe and when executed flawlessly, it feels very satisfying and engaging. That being taken away by BMW (if that's really what's happened) without any notice is very disappointing. Personally, being able to heel-toe was a big factor in going with the MT. otherwise, i would have picked up a CS.

I'll check on the drive home from work if its disabled with traction control off but i will not drive the car on public roads consistently and routinely with TC off.

May be this is BMW's way of getting people to slowly stop driving a MT car...conspiracy theory.... j/k
The reality is I think BMW really screwed this up from the beginning. What I mean is that I think auto-rev match is a great feature, but you should be able to turn it off and on at will no matter the throttle or DSC mode.

It is not like one more button on the center console or somewhere else would have really matter on the car. Just like we have the choice to run 3 different modes of throttle, 3 modes of suspension, 3 modes of steering, and 3 modes of traction (on, MDM, off), in any combinations of those modes we like, what is the big deal in adding auto-rev match to that mix?

Agreed and it doesn’t even have to be a physical button. It could just be a customizable setting in iDrive per how you want it in what mode you want etc.

It could have just been an option in iDrive with no button. It would take them seconds to add and it wouldn't be intrusive at all since an option in iDrive doesn't force additional buttons on the dashboard, yet for some idiotic reason they decide to turn it on or off based on throttle setting. Really foolish of them for something that is so simple for them to give as a user selectable option.
