So it's been a solid 2 weeks where the Spotify app appears in my iDrive, but it doesn't actually load. What do I have to do to make this actually work?

Guys,
Spotify screwed up on the last few updates!!! Specific to Connected Drive and Spotify. Try installing Spotify version 8.4.77.779 not the latest one from the Playstore. Here you go...click, download and install...Let me know how you get on! Link : https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkVs8gPXewomip0zO1FFkOmtQy0mwQ It should work as it did for me. Remember to switch off auto-updates on your Playstore prior to downloading the link otherwise it will update it to the latest one automatically and it will not work. This is a temporary workaround until Spotify and BMW can get their thumbs out of their asses and resolve this.

I think this worked, will continue to monitor.
I also found an option within one of the menus to disable Carplay. Not sure if that helps at all, but I turned it off.

Since early November, I've had the exact same problem as mindspin311 just posted above... except it was permanently broke, I just got a blank Spotify screen in iDrive for the last 5 weeks. It had worked fine for 9 months prior to that.
I rolled back my Spotify app to an APK from November 6th roughly (8.4.78), it was still broke. I went back even further, to some time in September (8.4.70) and now the Spotify integration is back working 100%. The version 8.4.77 listed above is probably just as good, I just went back quite far as part of my own testing methodology and I'll stick to that version. There's very little if anything different between most of these versions, a lot of these huge corporations schedule weekly updates with nothing in them just to invalidate a lot of the negative reviews they get on the app stores, because when a review is posted it ties it to the app version, so you can label these bad reviews as being out of date by simply regularly releasing new versions every week. People then see the bad reviews against old versions and assume the latest version is all singing and dancing perfect. |
