Do you track your M3/M4?
Simple poll - curious how many of us actually take our M3/M4's to the track.

Heh
I'm street only for now. I'd like to take it on the track but my tyres have about 10% to 20% tread left, and I fear a day at the track would destroy them. I'm trying to decide whether I just destroy my road tyres occasionally and change them sooner, or get a "cheap" but good set of track tyres, and track it more often. Especially as I have the ZCP with 20" 666s I'm leaning towards a set of lighter 18" wheels and "budget" track tyres - I'm not looking to set lap records, just to have fun on a track with my car. |

I try to do 3-4 track events each year which can be 4-8 days on track. I like to do 2 day events on tracks like Road America(large tracks) and 1 day on smaller tracks.

Got mine two months ago.
This weekend I’m taking a 9 hour drive to VIR for a two day track event. Can’t wait! Old car was tracked maybe 12 days a year |

I track my M4 about once a month. Normally 2 day events. I have modified the suspension and brakes and changed wheels and tires. With a few tweaks the car is very capable and surprises people out there with more expensive / powerful cars.

My neighbor races cars and his advice was this and I 100% agreed and followed. If your going to do this a few times a year, he recommended this.
1) track break pads, don't have to be super aggressive but track pad to handle the additional heat from the track is recommended. Plus you save your stock pads. 2) SRF or Motul 600 high temp brake fluid. I use SRF so I don't have to bleed brakes all the time. Beginners may not need this but it is additional insurance to not boil the fluid. Our club requires brake fluid to be replaced every 365 days so replacing it is required so I pay couple extra bucks for high temp fluid and additional security. 3) tires and rims. My AD08's had 7-8 days in them and were at 4/32 and great wear across the tire with some proper rotations. The guys running PSS's were destroyed after the weekend. The shoulders were burned off. When I sold my e90, I got $1100 for my track setup. $2300 new so I feel like I broke even after the use

Absolutely. That is the whole point of me getting M3/4 over the last 17 years. I do 16~20 track days a year.
The M3/4 are great dual use cars (street and track). There are not many offering that offer such a great blend of daily practicality, decent luxury and track-ability.

My M4 is street only. When I drive on a track I drive dedicated track cars.
