Sometimes people just like to play Speedway! and they know the probability of an M-car driver being a player is pretty good.

In case nobody has ever played "speedway", it's a game of driving strategy and luck.

Gameplay begins on the freeway in heavy traffic where you and 1-X other drivers spontaneously agree that you're going to compete to see who can bust the best low-speed moves to be "in the lead". The distance and duration of the game are opened ended, so it can be a fun way to pass the time. I see this most often in the MN, IA, WI, MI, IL. If it's a good game lasting longer than 20 minutes, drivers will usually wave, thumbs-up, and congratulate each other, and sometimes even spontaneously hit a happy hour together, agreed to via the universal sign language sign for "drink?".

Sometimes it's surprising how good those Minivan or Prius drivers can be.

I've heard.

Doesn't end like that in Southern California, that scenario usually plays out with violent words and hand gestures lol

get a bit closer to the canyons ... plenty of speedway action. Even on Highway 1 when and where it's not a disaster.

True, but may the odds be ever in your favor driving on any freeway in Southern California. Especially in a bmw, let alone an m3. Always a tough guy out there in a raggedy car trying to prove something

I bet they think twice about trying something stupid. I don't have people trying to muscle in front of me when merging. It's pretty cool.

This occurred this AM.

I'm on the freeway and happen to notice a JahreF80 so I speed up a bit and we enter onto a different freeway together. I'm trying to get next to him so I can wave, checkout the car and basically say wassup but he starts to weave in and out of cars like I'm trying to race him. There was surprisingly a lot of traffic for an early Sat AM so I just let him go LOL. I get it, but then again I don't - LOL. I was seriously just trying to give some props to another owner and this is what ends up happening lol. This is why there's such a stigma about these cars...

I was cruising down a local street and noticed a new M4 ZCP a few cars ahead. Stayed under the limit and pulled up to wave at him, but for some reason he sped up and lifted the gas to M-Queef at me, which was just odd and especially lame because he was 100% stock. Thought he was just having fun, so I caught up to him and then BAM he boned out and starting weaving through traffic, continuing to left off the gas for more queefs. Loser!

I don’t seem to have them cutting me off

Holy shit I get so aggravated when I'm just cruising in traffic and people constantly need to cut into my lane when there's not enough space.

Even when there is space and I'm in the right lane they cut in so fucking close to my car it aggravates the shit out of me.

I drive my parents cars and stuff all the time and this kind of thing never happens in any other car.
They are never going fast enough to cut me off and if someone is coming up at warp speed I signal and move over, just driver courtesy. If you move over when they approach it avoids the near collision, assuming the driver is not texting while driving. It’s usually modded 3 series and Hyundai Genesis coupes that will race up next to me and them get themselves in a near accident weaving in and out . One thing is for sure by the time they get anywhere close to getting an Mcar financially, they might have too many accidents on their record to afford the insurance. Even worse they might cause an accident with a fatality. Remember there is a time and a place for everything and rush hour traffic and residential areas are not a proving ground.High speed driving in these areas causes people with poor driving skills and a vehicle that might not be designed for high performance/handing to make an evasive maneuver and lose control.

I got this once a week. Same dude in a Chevy SS. Sounded like open pipes. Drives next to me for 10-15 secs then mashes it. Rinse and repeat. Finally annoyed I played along. He got small quick in the rear view.

Some funny stuff in this thread!

Full Disclosure: I'm definitely a "spirited" driver. So I can see why this article calls M3 owners the worst of the worst lol. https://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...-a8151111.html

That said, I do feel like other vehicles are "in the way" a lot. Left lane pirates. Intentional cut offs. Mexican roadblocks. Prius dicks trying to make a point. I usually just power around the obstacle.

I have notice though that when I'm in my wife's car I see more people street racing. Then I get pissed because I'm missing all the fun!

How did you know he was 100% stock? A flash tune won't be visible until the gas is floored.
